Fun Fact: The Irish hare, native to Ireland, is a unique subspecies of the mountain hare. Significantly larger than rabbits, it can weigh up to 8 pounds. Its coat transitions from reddish-brown in summer to gray-brown in winter, and it features large eyes on the sides of its head along with a distinctive pure white tail. As a herbivore, the Irish hare feeds on grasses, heather, herbs, sedges, willow, gorse, and bilberry, especially during winter.
