Fresh Cultivators

Fresh Cultivators Born in deep south Texas, we had a passion for growing plants and trees at an early age. We found the experience rewarding and nurturing.

In 2008, our interest in the cultivation of mushrooms flourished, and, well, here we are!

We were fortunate enough to be blessed with an interesting adaptation in one of our psychotria clones.

This specific cultivar is growing at a very abnormal rate and with very abnormal traits.

It seems to be growing at 3x the rate, and 3x the size of other clones taken at the same time.

I've kept my eye on this one since it first began showing these traits back in December. For now I'm going to keep growing it out for a few months and then begin taking cuttings and leaves to clone out to see if the adaptation passes down the line.

A last minute drip line install for my folks

We lost a number of our plants last winter ('24-'25) due to a freeze in North Texas, but we were able to save a few

They were slow to grow but after bringing them down to the RGV in the summer they really started to recover.

We also took some cuttings and rooted those in water around the same time, and we planted those cuttings into soil around late October.

Here is how they've been, coming up on about a year of growth.

We've gone ahead and added plants in between each row, bringing out total count to 112 plants.

We still have a bit of room by the South fence for another 10-20 so we'll get those in the ground here in the next day or two.

We're pleased with the recovery of the first batch of plants we put in the ground, so we are looking forward to a favorable recovery for these new additions.

We're getting ready to plant these little babies into the Earth 🌎

They grow up so quickly 🥲

We planted leaves sprouted in paper towels into these containers.

No watering, no checking.

About a month and a half later they are beginning to shoot.

This has been the highest success rate so far when propagating leaves. 108/110 are still going strong.

Plants tend to grow poorly indoors with the artificial light in the light bulbs and LED's.

Even sofisticated and expensive units will never outperform the natural sunlight.

This is because the DNA in plants has been sculpted to accept the specific wavelengths of the sun in order to grow properly..

When wavelengths are substituted with artificial lighting, the chlorophyll in the plant have to strain in order to accommodate the artificial waveforms.

This can cause major complications for the plant's health.

So, if your plants have been struggling, take them outside for natural sun for a bit.
