Sometimes interview locations are stark, and don't leave many options. The new office space was great for them, but limited for video. A good option in this situation into look for depth, so I moved a table to take advantage of the long hallway, and the fantastic light reflecting off of the floor. To help tie the shots together, having something in the background that appears in both shots is huge. In this case it was the glass door at the end of the hall. Things don't have to be complicated for a nice interview... this was a single light with the black side of a reflector being used for negative fill (which you can clearly see on the right side of his face), a Sennheiser MKH-50 mic on a boom pole (LOVE this mic) and the RED Digital Cinema Monstro & Komodo shooting in 6k. Still kicking myself in the ass for not rotating the coffee cup... the handle should have pointed towards his hand... rookie mistake. Thanks to my friends at Bluebird Creative for having me on the project!
