Memorial Day coming up!!
Backyard BBQ Food to Avoid Feeding Your Pet AND How to prepare your pets for fireworks
**if your pet needs a refill on anxiety medications for fireworks, give us 24-48 hours to fill.
With grilling season in full swing, here's a refresher on common cookout foods you should NEVER feed pets! While most pet owners know that certain foods like chocolate, onions and garlic and grapes pose serious health risks for dogs and cats, visiting friends, family and children may not. It’s a smart idea to remind your guests to NOT feed your pet table foods - especially if they are expert beggars.
🏥 If you suspect your pet may have eaten something they shouldn’t have, go directly to the closest emergency vet if your veterinarian is not available. Be sure to bring the item ingested, if possible, to help them diagnose and treat your pet.
Dogs and cats have a much higher sense of hearing than us humans do. While we may hear fireworks as musical pops, our pets experience them with much higher intensity. 🎆
As with thunder and lightning, the loud booms of fireworks are very unpredictable, causing lots of confusion for our pets. Cats and dogs cannot understand what is happening when they hear fireworks which instinctively triggers their fight-or-flight response to unknown threats. 🙀
