Meeko, Benjamin, and Kramer are their names, and semi-aquatic living is their game. 🦦

North American river otters are perfectly adapted for life in the water! With a narrow body and long whiskers, this mammal is able to navigate quickly and detect prey, even when their underwater environment is dark and cloudy.

Have old Christmas lights you aren't sure what to do with? Recycle them at the Fort Wayne Zoo!

From now until January 23, 2026, we will be collecting used holiday lights to prevent them from ending up in the landfill. Last year, you all recycled and diverted more than 2,600 pounds of Christmas lights from the landfill! Let's see if we can collect even more this year.

Lights can be dropped off at our Guest Services building on weekdays through January 23 from 9am-4pm.
