I forgot our tick repellant a couple of times when I walked the boys at Fort Washington State Park. I regretted not going back for it after each walk when I pulled at least 10 ticks off of each dog…😩😩

The days I remember to bring Wondercide though…I’ve pulled only one off of Alf’s face and…I think it’s just because I didn’t spray him in the face 😷

Not an Ad, just want to share something that seems to work for us…having light coated dogs doesn’t hurt either🤞🏻

I think it goes without saying that I love dogs. 🥰

But when I walk into a nice restaurant with a dress code and end up seated next to a mini Goldendoodle wearing a “service dog” vest…that’s where you lose me. 😅

Now I know what you’re thinking, “How did you know it wasn’t a service dog?” Well, I don’t. I can’t know someone’s disability or what a dog may be trained to do…but I can tell you that this dog didn’t display the kind of behavior you’d expect from a trained service dog. The dog had a hard time settling, jumped up for food when it was brought to the table, tried to wander over to our table to say hello, and wasn’t responsive to basic commands.

A true service dog? You probably wouldn’t even notice they were there. That’s how well-trained they are.

And this is absolutely nothing against the restaurant, or even the dog! If anything, I feel for the staff because it only takes one person (my mind goes to my mom🤪) to see something like this and suddenly the restaurant is getting the bad reviews.

I also take my own dogs to restaurants sometimes! But we stick to dog-friendly patios, and I order them their own entree so they don’t have to beg for mine. 🤩

So the point of this post is just to be mindful when bringing your dog places. Loving dogs means knowing not every place is for them. Bringing your dog just because you love them so much can end up negatively affecting the restaurant, other patrons, and most importantly- people who actually rely on service dogs.
