✨ Allen County Fair Open Dairy Goat Show Results:🥇

7 out of 8 kids (even our 2-year-old!) showed in showmanship, and we brought home more champions to celebrate!

🐐 Crosswind Belladonna Bourbon- 4 year old( Agape’s Prize Bourbon Street x Wood Bridge Farm Foxy Lady) had another epic weekend—winning Grand Champion Senior Doe and Best of Breed! The judge even gave her a special mention in Best in Show.

🐐 Honey Sweetie Mi Amor-dry yearling (Cuatlilredbarn Diamondback x Wood Bridge Farm Ma Cherie) was named Reserve Champion Junior Doe.

🥛 All 4 of our milkers made it into the final drive (so even Dad got in on the action!).

🐐🎡 Dairy Goats vs. Market Goats: The Real Story 🎡🐐

People always ask, “Why do you take dairy goats to the fair instead of market goats?”

Well…

🥛 Dairy Goats: Come home with you after the fair, give you milk for cheese, soap, and ice cream. Basically, they pay rent in dairy products.

🍖 Market Goats: Taste great… but they don’t exactly come home for snuggles.

🐐 Dairy Goats: You can show them year after year, and they’ll remember you… mostly because you’re the one with the feed bucket.

🐐 Market Goats: You raise them for a season, send them off, and try not to cry into your funnel cake.

🍼 Dairy Goats: Have kids (baby goats) you can keep showing or sell to other farms.

💪 Market Goats: Have muscles. Lots of them. And that’s kinda the point.

*Extra bonus: you can show in multiple classes based on age with 🥛 dairy goats. For example at our county fair dairy showmen can bring up to 8 goats each. (More opportunity to show!)
For market 🥩 goats, kids are typically limited to 2-3 animals/classes.

We love both, but for us, dairy goats are like family… family that eats all your hay and tries to chew on your show shirt. 🥰

Our Wild Willows kids (both human and goat!) poured their hearts into this week, and their hard work paid off in some pretty amazing ways. But more than anything, we’re just grateful to Jesus for His favor, and to the village who helped us do it all. 🙌💚
