We’re thrilled to share that our beloved Inky is off to her next chapter! 💜 Last week, she began a new journey with our incredible partners at HALO No-Kill Rescue Shelter.

Inky has been with us for over a year, and while we’ll deeply miss her goofy personality and resilient spirit, we’re so hopeful this move will bring her one step closer to the loving family she deserves.

A huge thank you to HALO for opening their hearts and doors — it’s partnerships like this that truly change lives. 🐾

Hi, I’m Oakley!

You might remember me as “that dog” who went on a little… unexpected vacation in the woods for a week. I had a blast running free (maybe a little too free), but eventually St. Lucie County Animal Safety caught up with me and brought me in safe and sound.

They waited for my old family to come get me, but no one ever showed. That’s okay though—because now I’ve had a fresh start! I’m all fixed up, vaccinated, protected with preventatives, and feeling better than ever.

I’m super clean at home and love a good car ride. I get along great with other dogs, love meeting new people, and honestly? I’m just looking for a comfy couch to call my own. I’m a total cuddle bug, a social butterfly, and I’ve got the kind of heart that’s ready to love big.

If you’ve got space in your home (and on your couch), I’d love to meet you. Maybe my next adventure could be with you—forever this time. 💙

We are thrilled to announce that we will be having FREE ADOPTIONS for these dogs! We are continuing free adoptions Monday, 6/30, through Thursday, 7/3 for the following 8 dogs who didn’t find their forever homes during the Petco Love Mega Adoption Event. 🐶

We would especially like to highlight the center pictured dogs which are our 2 long term residents: Inky (November 2024) and Roman (our 2025 Valentines Day boy). These two pups are some of the sweetest we have at the shelter. They are both so friendly and love to go for adventures with our staff. We can't wait to see them find their forever family! ❤

Eight dogs adopted from St. Lucie County's Animal Shelter today at the Petco Love Mega Adoption Event at the Fenn Center. Staff will be bringing 12 more on the final day (Saturday, June 28) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All pets available for adoption will be fixed (spayed or neutered), up to date on all of their vaccinations, microchipped, and their adoption fees are COMPLETELY FREE. That means you can take home your next best friend for $0.

Check out these cute puppy eyes! 👀 🐶 Meet Onyx!

Onyx is a spayed female, black and white Labrador Retriever. The shelter staff think she is about 7 months old and has been at the shelter since Jun 03, 2025.

Onyx is a gorgeous black puppy with a heart as shiny as her coat! She’s your typical playful, loving pup—full of tail wags, curiosity, and the desire to bond closely with her person. 🐕

Onyx is always up for a good game or cuddle session and loves quality one-on-one time. She enjoys meeting new friends (both two- and four-legged!), though she might need just a little time to warm up and feel fully comfortable.

With her sweet nature and growing confidence, Onyx is ready to blossom into the loyal companion she’s meant to be. All she needs is a little love, a little patience, and a lot of belly rubs. 💕

Say hi to Keyla! 👋🏼 Keyla will be joining us at the Fenn Center today and tomorrow from 10-4 to meet all of you! She is looking forward to finding her furr-ever family!

She is a spayed female, black and tan German Shepherd Dog. The shelter staff think she is about 3 years old and has been at the shelter since Jun 20, 2025.

Keyla is a breathtakingly beautiful and athletic German Shepherd with energy to burn and love to give. She’s not only smart and loyal—she’s a bilingual queen who understands Spanish, making her even more unique and special! 💖

Keyla absolutely thrives outdoors and would make an incredible running buddy, hiking partner, or adventure companion. She bonds deeply and would be a devoted partner for someone experienced with the breed who can give her the structure, purpose, and love she craves. 🥾

Sadly, this isn’t Keyla’s first stay with us—her previous owner never came back to claim her. But she hasn’t given up hope. Keyla is ready for a fresh start with someone who truly sees her for the amazing dog she is.

Sniff sniff...Olive is excited to smell you in just a few hours! She will be with us at the Fenn Center today and tomorrow from 10-4 for our biggest adoption event of the year. We will even be having FREE ADOPTIONS!! 🐶💗

She is a spayed female, brown brindle Black Mouth Cur. The shelter staff think she is about 7 months old and has been at the shelter since Jun 06, 2025.

Olive is a darling hound mix puppy with a loving heart, playful spirit, and a tail that never stops wagging! She’s happiest when she’s snuggling up with her bestie Oscar, romping around with her doggie friends, or soaking up attention from anyone willing to give her cuddles. 🐶 ❤ 🐶

This outgoing girl gets along with all kinds of dogs and brings a joyful, friendly energy wherever she goes. Olive’s the type of pup who’s always excited to make new friends and can’t wait to meet her forever family.

Inky had the BEST beach day and even went out to dinner with her new friend, Emmitt! 🌊🐾

She's a little picky about making friends, but once you take it slow, she warms right up. Inky loves to jump and play too! She can be a little shy around men, but a few tasty treats will definitely win her over. 🦴❤
