Our little Kiki the Kinkajou has been blind in her left eye since she came to us in 2014. Recently, I noticed some changes in the eye that led to a vet check and a scheduled surgery to remove the eye, which had abscessed. Her surgery was on Friday and I'm happy to report that she's doing extremely well in her recovery!

We have moved her inside temporarily to keep her out of the dirt and cold for a few weeks of healing.

Animal Diet Prepper Position
*Full training provided

We are a non-profit organization with a focus on Cassowaries and other ratites. We currently have cassowary, emu, and rhea, with more being added soon as the current hatching season is already upon us.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a part-time on-site job at our facility in Fort Pierce, FL. The Animal Diet Prepper will be responsible for the task of daily animal diet preparation, with the possibility of some animal care and feeding in the future.

Cassowaries eat a 90% fruit diet. The fruit has to be cut to the appropriate size for the cassowaries to eat. This will be much of your job. There is an overhang for shade and bluetooth speakers for you to play music while you work. You must be able to supervise yourself and reach the daily goal of completing the cassowary fruit diet preparation.

There is no prior experience necessary for this position but the following qualifications are necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be over 18 years old
Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs
The ability to manage yourself and your daily tasks
Attention to detail and strong work ethic
Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team
Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors
Experience with basic farm maintenance tasks

MVD’s are also entitled to in person visits to the organization during their adoption period!
