Pancake’s story:
The photo on the left was posted on my community FB page. As soon as I saw it, I began my search and posted my intent on finding him/her. This was early January of this year. Some residents would tag me to let me know where the dragon was sighted. I searched for a week before finally finding it! It was cold and rainy on Saturday, January 6th. Chloe saw her first. I had a towel that was warmed. She didn’t resist or show any sign of displeasure/discomfort. I rushed her home, called my friend that’s a vet, and got to work. I took the lamp from my snakes and set it up with a soft bed for her to lay on. She flattened her body and the kids loved this. They said she looks like a Pancake. Pancake stuck, and now I’m obsessed. I’ve always had a special love and interest in reptiles. This set my rescue in place. Pancake is a permanent family member. Since her, we have rescued a leg less lizard (hit by a lawn mower, rehabilitated, released back into the wild), a veiled chameleon (invasive in FL, wild caught, adopted by a family), two corn snakes (from a student), a bearded dragon (from a student), and a corn snake that was living in a hole next to my door.
