While our girls are happily lounging in the shade (or soaking up the breeze in front of fans during this heat wave), a few Hillaire Farm does were out making us proud in the show ring!

This past weekend, friend of the farm Angela Morse of 53 Orchard Farm showed her beautiful Oberhasli at the North Country Showcase including four Hillaire Farm bred does. (All just happen to be sired by CH Ober-Boerd Vosegus)

๐ŸŒŸ Hillaire Farm Hollywood Nights (3 years old) earned a Grand Champion win in one ring! Just one leg away from finishing her championship!
๐ŸŒŸ Her herd mate, Hillaire Farm Hail Mary (also 3 years old), picked up a Reserve Champion ribbon in another ring!
๐ŸŽ‰ Angela also finished one of her Oberhasli does at the show!

Huge congratulations, Angela, on a fantastic weekend! Youโ€™re doing a wonderful job with your herd, and weโ€™re so thankful these girls are in such a great home. We'll share how the two Hillaire Farm experimentals did/looked later โ™ฅ๏ธ

Since itโ€™s Fatherโ€™s Day, it only feels right to introduce the first retained homebred buckling here at Hillaire Farm:

๐Ÿ’ฅ Hillaire Farm Vinland Saga ๐Ÿ’ฅ
Barn name: Vinny

Named for epic journeys and fierce legacies, Vinny is already living up to the title. Heโ€™s out of one of our absolute barn favorites, CH (pending) Ober-Boerd T Vai VVVV86 (02-04), and sired by S Maple Farm HTF Sentinel, a cross that feels less like luck and more like fate.

Weโ€™ve been thrilled with our Sentinel kids this year, so much so, weโ€™ve kept three daughters and now this promising young buck. With Sentinel heading to a new herd this fall, we knew this was our shot to secure the next chapter of his line here.

Vinnyโ€™s dam Vai is a doe that checks every box: balanced, correct, and has one of the best udders weโ€™ve had the pleasure to milk. We hoped Sentinel would bring length and power to her elegant framework while reinforcing udder capacity and shape. From what we can see so far, mission accomplished.

Vinny is long, level, and has a wonderful front end, even if heโ€™s still learning that standing still with a collar is part of being a respectable Viking. For now, weโ€™ll settle for bottle pics!

He wonโ€™t be used on too many does this fall, but he will be collected, and if the gods are with him, youโ€™ll be seeing more of Vinny next year. โš”๏ธ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿš› Transport Policy Update ๐Ÿš›

At Hillaire Farm of Scott's Circle, the well-being of our animals is our highest priority. While we have always encouraged buyers to select their own livestock transporters, recent transport snafus have highlighted the need for clearer expectations.

Going forward, we will be asking about transport plans before finalizing any sales. We reserve the right to refuse coordination with certain transporters who do not meet our standards for communication, reliability, and timely delivery.

We strongly encourage all buyers to research their chosen transporter thoroughly and ensure they are experienced, communicative, and prompt. A smooth and safe transition for our animals going to their new homes is something we are committed to and expect the same from everyone involved.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

This year we've double downed on our Oberhasli program and have started to phase out our Experimental/Recorded Grade program. It's so much easier showing one breed instead of running between rings with one breed and running to the next with the other.

We sold a really nice yearling first freshener experimental Hillaire Farm Emerald Dreams earlier in the year and now Hillaire Farm Tipperary Tulla has been picked up by transport and is headed to her new home. That leaves retired champion Gem, our finished doe Opal and now Alice's little project doe Rosie. Alice was a little sad to see Tulla go today but is more than happy with all "her" babies left on the farm (she's claimed them all ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ).

Fun day out with the young string. We decided to bring out just 5 does out today for the Garden State show.

Milking yearling Hillaire Farm AnthemOfDaHeart was the only milking yearling. She was praised by both judges for her mammary and general appearance, she's just a baby and needs to mature.

CH (pending) Hillaire Farm WhisperOfDaHeart VEEE90 was 2nd behind the champion of the day in Ring 1 and stood in 4th in Ring 2. Really wish we could get her to have more than just singles to gain more capacity in that udder but she looked good.

Junior show

Hillaire Farm BattleOfDaHeart was 1st of 1 in both rings.

Hillaire Farm Keldeo was 2nd and Reserve Champion under Paige Warren and 4th in Ring 2.

Experimental Hillaire Farm Roscommon Rose was 2nd in both rings and Reserve Champion under judge Paige Warren.

It was a fun day spent with friends family, wish it was a wee bit warmer but overall it was a fun and relaxing show. Bringing such a young group of goats, our only expectation was to get them used to the ring. That's it for spring shows for us, we'll rest everyone until summer shows. We didn't get a ton of ring shots since T and Alice left early due to the cold, but we did get some nice shots of Rosie thanks to Faith Shultz ๐Ÿ˜Š

We had a wonderful time at the Altamont NY doe show yesterday.

Our milking yearling Hillaire Farm AnthemOfDaHeart was Grand Champion in Ring 1 and Reserve Champion in Ring 2! We are very happy how Anthem looked throughout the day. This was her first show fill and we were happy with how she filled and more importantly how she milked out. She has wonderful texture to her udder and her general appearance is one of the best in our barn. She just needs one more win to finish her championship (not that we're rushing to do so).

CH (pend) Ober-Boerd Kyurem was best of breed in Ring 1. She's going to be sitting in our barn resting for a while. We're so proud of her for performing so well the last two weeks.

๐Ÿ junior show

Hillaire Farm Keldeo was 4th? Place in ring 1 and 1st place in ring 2. She went on to go Reserve in Ring 2.

Hillaire Farm BattleOfDaHeart was 1st place in ring 1 and 2nd in Ring 2.

Everyone's favorite experimental kid Hillaire Farm Roscommon Rose was 4th in Ring 1 and 2nd in Ring 2.

Thanks again to Tyler Ramirez for helping handle our girls! Thanks for letting me get in on the fun showing those gorgeous CasaRam Nigerian Dwarfs for you and congrats on all of your success yesterday! You've earned it!

Yesterday we attended the CDGA Nutmeg Classic with one senior doe and one junior doe.

๐Ÿ’ฅ we have a new pending permanent champion ๐Ÿ’ฅ

CH (pending) Ober-Boerd Kyurem

Kyurem was 1st place in her class going on to earn Grand Champion and then beat a very pretty challenger for Best of Breed, she also earned best udder of breed in Ring 1 under judge Ed Jodlowski! In Ring 2 under judge Will Pearson she was 1st place in her class and went on to win Grand Champion and Best of Breed once again!

We are so proud of Kyurem and continue to be thankful to Kirt Schnipke of Ober-Boerd Dairy Goats for allowing such a beauty to be in our barn!

In the junior show
Hillaire Farm Gossip Monger was first place in her class and went on to earn grand champion in Ring 1 under judge Ed Jodlowski. Earning her restricted leg. Gossip was 2nd place in Ring 2 under judge Will Pearson. Unfortunately we only got a ringside shot of Gossip.

Tierney Kain and Alice held down the fort while we were gone! Thanks goes out to Tyler Ramirez for not only showing our girls and clipping Kyurem's udder but also hauling to the show as a team. It's always a pleasure and you're a great friend. Congrats on your wins as well but we'll let you make that post ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks to Bob Bartholomew for snagging pictures of Kyurem. We're very thankful for such quality pictures.

We got some nice fresh pictures of our NEW junior herd sire coming to Hillaire Farm in the fall.

Meet ๐ŸŽต Ober-Boerd Thank U, Next ๐ŸŽต barn name Tun.

This CH Dreamy Sunset DET Nalet x Ober-Boerd Return To Oz son Is Everything we could've wanted from the breeding! We have long admired Nalet and have been wishing we could have Ozzie back in our herd so when Nalet finally gave us a buck kid sired by Ozzie we jumped at the opportunity to sn**ch him up! We love the long rump, strong back, smooth and correct front end assembly on Tun paired with strong mammaries and impressive goats behind his pedigree. We can't wait to use him this fall and look forward to our future with him! Thank you Kirt Schnipke of Ober-Boerd Dairy Goats once again for sharing your genetics with us!

We clipped our first goat of the year today. We really like what was hiding under all that winter hair. Hillaire Farm Gossip Monger is ready to hit the ring in ten days. One more to clip for that show and then we'll start clipping everyone else for their first clip of the year!

Did we mention Gossip is an Opal daughter? One of her maternal sisters born this year is currently available!

Retained sold the twin instead ๐Ÿ˜ snooze ya lose

When we say we don't want to sell this kid, we really mean it! Luckily for us (and you), we're retaining her twin sister.

Up for discussion is a very pretty American Oberhasli doe kid out of CH(pend) Hillaire Farm Onyx Opal VGVV87 (02-04) sired by S Maple Farm HTF Sentinel.

https://genetics.adga.org/PlannedPedigreePrint.aspx?SireNum=B002378218&DamNum=E002229153

Opal was the 8th place 2 year old at the ADGA National Show. She has had a stellar show career and we look forward to seeing it continue this year as a challenger. Sentinel has really impressed us with the quality of his kids. We're keeping more than initially intended ๐Ÿ˜. We adore his dam who also finished her championship last year as a 2 year old first freshener. His sire's side is equally impressive.
