We are in need of much needed treats and food items donations to keep our pets happy, healthy, and enriched while they wait for their furever homes at our shelter.

These are the enrichment items we’re asking for the most this week 🐶🐱❤:

🐶Dog treats: Pupperoni sticks, Beggin' Strips, milk bone mini's, etc.
🐱Cat treats: Churu, temptations, catnip, etc.
🥕Fresh foods: Apples, blueberries, white rice

: Meet Detective Flynn of the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) and our adorable girl, Mollie!

Every dog deserves a chance. Every share brings them one step closer.

That’s the mission behind Paws & Protectors, where members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office partner with Broward County Animal Care to help adoptable dogs find the loving forever homes they deserve. Along the way, we’re introducing the people behind the badge, promoting responsible pet ownership, and sharing public safety tips that help keep both people and pets safe.

Today, we’re featuring Detective Flynn, who serves on the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU), a countywide unit that provides investigative services to Cooper City and communities throughout Broward County.

In addition to investigating sensitive crimes involving vulnerable victims, the SVU also investigates animal cruelty cases, helping ensure abused, neglected, and mistreated animals receive the care and justice they deserve. Detective Flynn’s dedication to protecting those who cannot protect themselves—whether people or animals—makes him a perfect addition to our Paws & Protectors series.

☀️ Summer Pet Safety Tip

Dogs can get sunburned too! If your pet will be spending time outdoors, make sure they have access to shade and plenty of fresh water, avoid prolonged time in direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day, and consider using a pet-safe sunscreen on exposed areas like the nose, ears, and belly, especially if they have a light-colored or thin coat. A few simple precautions can help keep your four-legged family members safe all summer long.

When temperatures rise, your pet depends on you to stay safe.

☀️ Protect your furry family members by:
💧 Providing plenty of fresh, cool water
🌴 Keeping them in the shade or indoors during peak heat
🐾 Walking on grass whenever possible to protect sensitive paws
🚗 Never leaving them in a parked vehicle—even for a minute

☀️ Summer Pet Safety Tip

South Florida’s summer heat can be dangerous for our four-legged friends. Always provide fresh water and shade when your dog is outdoors, avoid walking them on hot pavement that can burn their paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

Fendi just quietly steals your heart. ❤️

Meet Fendi (A2473782)—a playful, affectionate pup whose tail never stops wagging.

Whether he’s chasing a tennis ball or soaking up a little love, he’s simply happy to be with
people.

The hardest part?

At the end of the day, he still goes back to his kennel.

Through a new initiative, Paws and Protectors, Broward County Animal Care proudly collaborates with Cooper City BSO to spotlight our adoptable dogs as well as members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office who are essential in keeping Broward County safe.
