Where The Money Goes…
The Humane Society of Broward County relies on the generosity of our community and companies to fund our operations and programs budget. We do not get funding from the government, United Way or any other national or local organizations with similar names. Income sources are: adoption fees; services such as dog obedience, vaccination clinics, spay/neuter programs; pet boutique sales; fundraising events; grants; general donations and from those people who leave the shelter in their will. Every dollar is carefully spent to help the unwanted animals.

She’s just a puppy, but she’s already spent more than three months of her young life growing up in a shelter kennel🥺💔

Meet Violet, a sweet 1-year-old German Shepherd mix who has been waiting for a family since the beginning of July 😔 Sadly, we think one of the reasons she’s been overlooked for so long is because of how stressed she becomes in her kennel. She jumps, gets overwhelmed, and doesn’t always make the best first impression. But once you get her outside, you meet a completely different dog❤️‍🩹

After watching Violet spend so much of her puppyhood in a kennel, we decided she deserved a day away from the shelter to decompress, have some fun, and remind her that there’s a whole world waiting for her🥹 🙏

Thanks to one of our wonderful volunteers, Violet got to enjoy a car ride, go shopping, meet new people, enjoy some yummy treats, and even have her very own pup cup! She spent the day being the happy, silly, affectionate puppy we wish everyone could see. She even showed off her famous Violet hugs🥰

Violet is such a loving girl who deserves so much more than this. 🙏 Shes smart, potty trained, silly, loves belly rubs, and is always happy to give you a hug. She’s still young and has so much life ahead of her. ♥️

She can be selective with other dogs, so we recommend a dog meet if you already have a pup at home. 

Please don’t let Violet spend the rest of her puppyhood growing up in a kennel. She deserves a family, a home, and the chance to enjoy days like this without having to return to the shelter when they’re over. ❤️

These cuties are all dressed up and ready for tomorrow afternoon’s Count Barkula’s Halloween Festival, and they can’t wait to meet you! 👻🐾

Join us **Friday, October 16, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.** for an afternoon of Halloween fun for the whole family! 🎃

There will be trick-or-treating throughout the shelter, carnival games, a spooky scavenger hunt, a photo booth, unlimited puppy playtime, and plenty of adorable adoptable pets hoping to find their forever homes! 🥹❤️

Breeze, Emirates, and Lufthansa are getting into the Halloween spirit and can’t wait for the big event! 🥹❤️ These adorable bunnies are just a few of the wonderful pets waiting for loving homes at the Humane Society of Broward County, and they’re hoping to find families of their own this Halloween! 🐰💕

Gizmo was ADOPTED!!! 🥹❤️🎉

After waiting since July, our sweet boy Gizmo has finally found his forever family!! 🥰❤️

Gizmo was one of our longer residents and became such a favorite among our staff and volunteers. This big love bug was often scared of his surroundings at the shelter, but once he felt comfortable, all he wanted was love, belly rubs and someone to play with. 🥹 We all grew so attached to him during his time with us and couldn’t be happier that he finally got the happy ending he deserved! ❤️

When it was finally time to leave, sweet Gizmo took his time army crawling his way to the car because the world around him still feels so big and scary, and he’s just a baby trying to be brave. 🥺💔 But little does he know, the best days of his life are just beginning!! ❤️

And the best part?! Gizmo has a built-in best friend waiting for him at home! 🐶💕 His new family says he’s already living his best life with unlimited sunbathing, snuggles, treats and toys!! After everything this sweet boy has been through, knowing he’s finally happy and loved in a home of his own means the world to us. 🥹❤️

We’re so grateful to Gizmo’s wonderful new family for giving him the second chance he deserved, and to everyone who shared his story and helped him find his way home! 🙏❤️

For 15 years, Babie knew the comfort of the same home and the same family. Now, at 15 years old, this precious girl has lost the only home she’s ever known and is starting over at our shelter. 💔🥺
 
Babie was surrendered by her family because of her age and some normal signs of aging. But despite being a senior, she is still a sweet, loving girl who has so much life and love left to give. ❤️
 
What breaks our hearts the most is how incredibly sweet Babie has been through all of this. She seems completely unfazed by the changes around her and just wants to be loved. She enjoys cuddling, loves attention and will even have little conversations with you! Talk to her and she’ll talk right back. 🥹❤️
 
After spending her entire life with one family, Babie should be enjoying her golden years in the comfort of a loving home, not waiting in a shelter for someone to give her another chance. 💔
 
We know adopting a 15-year-old cat isn’t for everyone, but we also know there is someone out there who would love to give this precious girl a soft bed, a sunny window and all the love she deserves for however many years she has left. 🙏❤️
 
Please help us find Babie a loving retirement home. She has spent 15 years being someone’s companion, and we hope someone will open their heart and give her the same love and loyalty in return. ❤️

At 11 years old, Luna never imagined she would be looking for a new family. 🥺💔

Meet Luna, our Walk Wednesday Pet of the Week! ❤️ This sweet senior Lab mix spent her entire life with the same family, but sadly, her owners became too ill to continue caring for her. After 11 years of knowing nothing but the comfort of her home and the people she loved, Luna now finds herself at our shelter waiting for a second chance. 💔

Luna’s previous family had nothing but wonderful things to say about her! 🥹 She’s friendly, affectionate, smart, and great with children as young as 5 and other dogs. She loves toys and treats, knows how to sit, and is even housetrained! She’s still an active girl who has so much love to give. ❤️

It’s heartbreaking to think that Luna is spending her golden years in a kennel instead of a loving home. She deserves a comfortable place to sleep, a family to love, and someone to reassure her when thunderstorms get scary. We would love nothing more than to see this sweet girl find a forever home where she can spend the rest of her years feeling safe and loved. 🙏❤️

Imagine watching people walk past your kennel every day and wondering when someone will finally stop for you. 🥺💔

Beasley, Callie, Lola, Chica, Lucy, Blair, Rico, Sunny, Willow, Rumi, Thornton, Luna, Roscoe, Scarlett, and Toshi are just a few of the many wonderful dogs waiting for loving homes at the Humane Society of Broward County. ❤️

Some of these dogs will run right up to greet you, while others are shy, scared, or overwhelmed by shelter life. Some bark to get your attention, and others sit quietly hoping someone will notice them. 🥺

Please don’t judge a dog by how they act in their kennel. Many of these sweet dogs are completely different once you spend time with them outside. They just need someone to give them a chance. ❤️

Daisy is looking for her third chance at a forever home! 🥺❤️

At just 2 years old, Daisy has already lost two homes through no fault of her own. Her first family no longer had the time to care for her, and sadly, her second owner was no longer able to keep her. Now this sweet girl is back at the shelter, hoping the third time will be the charm. 🙏

Daisy is a friendly, affectionate girl who loves people, cuddling, running and playing! ❤️ She has done well with older children and has lived with other dogs. She’s also very smart and quite the escape artist! Daisy can open certain doors, escape crates and jump fences, so she’ll need a family who can keep her safe and give her plenty of exercise and attention. She also LOVES treats, especially sardines and blueberries! 🥰

This October, we are proud to partner with Subaru of Pembroke Pines for to help wonderful shelter pets like Daisy get the second chance they deserve. 🐾 Every pet deserves a loving home, and we are hoping Daisy’s next family will be the one who keeps her forever. ❤️ Subaru of Pembroke Pines

He’s lost without his family 🙏🥺
For all of his life, 4-year-old Frodo knew the comfort of home and a loving family. Sadly, when a family member developed allergies, they had to make the difficult decision to surrender him 💔

Now, this sweet boy is trying to make sense of a world that looks very different than the one he had to leave 🥺 On top of that, Frodo is being overlooked by adopters because of his anxiety in his kennel 💔
If only they knew that underneath his uncertainty is an absolutely wonderful dog! 🙏

Frodo is getting lots of one-on-one time with our staff and volunteers, and we can tell you that he is friendly, affectionate, and happiest when he’s close to people ❤️ He’ll gladly sit beside you, leaning in for pets and attention ☺️ He knows his name, enjoys treats, and knows basic commands. In his previous home, Frodo was known for being playful, social, and full of personality. We’re told he’s good with adults, children, and other dogs, but a meet and greet here at the shelter is always recommended. He loves playing with balls and could happily spend hours chasing and fetching his favorite toys ❤️

This energetic boy also enjoys letting loose with joyful zoomies. And if there’s water involved, even better! Frodo loves swimming, splashing through sprinklers, and enjoying any opportunity to cool off and have fun ❤️

Frodo is very food and toy motivated, and loves chewing and playing with Nylabones. He also readily allows leashing and handling for walks.

Frodo is looking to find his way back to a loving home 🥹 Could that home be yours? 🙏
