Viridian Farm was honored to be a host site for ENYDCTA’s very successful clinic with Beth Baumert. Beth’s great communication skills, high expectations and encouragement inspired riders to strive for more, expect more, and have faith in ourselves. Thanks to the ENYDCTA volunteers for their hard work organizing, the riders who participated, and the great turnout of auditors who came to learn. Riders, if you have pictures or videos you’d like to share please add them in the comments. We weren’t able to get many and we want to celebrate how well you rode.

We can’t wait to host this special ENYDCTA clinic!

Hi, horse friends. The woman who cleans my barn is on vacation until August 9. I’m looking for someone to cover for her. No handling of horses or mucking. This is a dusting/sweeping/spraying/moping job. I’m hoping for a person I know who is comfortable around horses, independent, and can work around the horses’ owners and other staff. Weekdays only, the weekend isn’t needed. About 3 hours a day. You can choose what time of day you come. Very good pay per hour. Please PM me!

Hi, friends! Let’s give a shout out to Jeff and Kiersten (and all barn workers), who are braving the cold to take care of our horses so we don’t have to. Today is a hard day for them. Let’s tell them we appreciate their efforts.

We had so much fun riding in our horse games today! Thank you, ladies! Next Saturday, 12 noon. See you there!

Hello, boarder friends! This is a note to let you know that we we will be setting up the Working Equitation obstacles in the indoor arena on Sunday morning, April 24. The obstacles will be up until 12 noon. Any boarder who wants to come give them a try is welcome! Because the obstacles take up the entire arena, regular ring work that day will available from 1 PM on. (We need time to break things down.) It’s fun and something different for your horse. Give them a break from the circles! There is no charge for boarders. (If you are a boarder at the Vertical farms you are also considered a boarder here for this opportunity.) Hope to see you there!

It’s glop time. This is a good way to look at it.

GLOP

“Glop” noun, as in, “My horse rolled in the glop.”
“Gloppy” adjective, as in “My paddocks are a gloppy mess.”

Glop is a new word that is a combination of, but not limited to, such words as grime, goo, goop, slime, and slop.

Glop is 4 parts wet manure, 5 parts mud, 3 parts slime of an unknown nature, 2 parts last year’s leaf mold, 2 parts some other disgusting substance.

My farm, currently, is under a severe glop watch. My horses roll in glop. The glop dries on their bodies in thick sheets that can best be loosened by a garden rake. We wade in glop. We haul hay carts through acres of glop.

It will be observed that glop and glitz are not related terms. Neither is glop a close relative of glamor. The horses in the big shows are not gloppy. Most of the famous riders of the sleek horses at the major venues rarely deal with glop.

Glop is a hidden reality of the joys of springtime that many never get to experience in a close, intimate and personal fashion.

Hello! Just a quick note…We are setting up some working equitation obstacles in the arena on Sunday. They’ll be available for boarders to try from 10:30 to 1:00 or so. Last time the horses who tried them did great!

Extra special thanks to Kim and Amanda! They took the initiative to clean the inside of the stalls. If you see them PLEASE give them some thanks for keeping your horse’s environment so clean. 😁They’ve done about half of them. If your stall hasn’t been cleaned, never fear! They’ll be back next Monday to do the rest.
