We’re excited to share that Lindsay Harmon, MBA, CCRA, DVM Candidate 2028, has been awarded a Young Investigators Grant through Colorado State University to support our research project evaluating multimodal non-operative management of canine cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease 🐾
This project, in collaboration with Colorado State University and Red Sage Integrative Veterinary Partners, will include BOTH:
• a retrospective study evaluating outcomes in dogs previously managed conservatively for CCL disease
• a prospective pilot study following dogs undergoing non-surgical management over time using objective outcome measures such as gait analysis, radiographs, pain assessments, range of motion measurements, muscle girth measurements, and extracorporeal shockwave therapy
CCL disease is one of the most common causes of hind limb lameness in dogs. While surgery is often recommended, many dogs are managed conservatively for a variety of reasons. Our goal is to better understand outcomes associated with rehabilitation-based and multimodal conservative management strategies and help guide future evidence-based treatment recommendations.
We are incredibly grateful to Colorado State University for supporting this work and excited to continue advancing veterinary rehabilitation, sports medicine, regenerative medicine, and evidence-based patient care.
