Yesterday, I adopted the oldest, sickest, and most broken dog at the shelter. I'll never forget the look he gave me. When I entered his kennel, he didn't even look at me—he was too used to being overlooked. He lay curled up in the corner, as if he'd given up long ago.
The volunteer asked several times, "Are you sure this is the dog you want? Really sure?" Without hesitation, I said, "Yes. This is the dog."
When the door opened and a few other animals ran out, I went straight to him. At that moment, he slowly raised his head, as if he'd seen someone truly notice him for the first time. I gently took him in my arms and whispered, "From now on, you'll be happy again."
He fell asleep in my lap—probably the first peaceful sleep of his life.
Please—give the forgotten a chance. Give them love. They need us more than we realize.

BAGEL & CHIPPER
Bagel and Chipper are bonded, neutered male Apple Head Chihuahuas who are vet aged between 4-5 years old. They are attached to one another, and must be adopted and kept together. They were surrendered by an older woman with health issues who could no longer care for them. They are very, very sweet boys—Bagel is white —(5 lbs) and “Chip” is grey—(8.5 lbs) and are complete snuggle bugs. They like to sleep in bed with Foster Parents, but will also sleep in their own beds. They are trained to potty on doggie bathroom pads and would need to be retrained to go to the bathroom outside. This is convenient for apartment or condo dwellers. They do not nip or bite, they do bark when they hear unfamiliar noises, so if there’s a noise sensitive living situation, these are not a good match. They get along with cats and other dogs. Chip and Bagel are healthy and up to date on all vet care. They bring so much life into a home, and are just completely adorable in every way.

Transferred/Pulled By Rescue
A145471 Fritz - Rescue Only

Looking for a breed specific rescue for our sweet boy Fritz. A breed specific rescue is not required, but we do think it would be very beneficial for this guy. Fritz is 3 years young and very anxious. He does have a bite history and for this we do have to make him rescue only. Fritz has so much going for him, but he needs some guidance and work. This breed has specific needs that are required for him to succeed. We are already in love, and want the best possible outcome regarding his forever home. Please reach out to [email protected] or call 704-216-7768 for additional questions.

Must have 501c3 to pull.
