I’m blessed to call the Fontana Police K9 Training Facility home. Still, a property that is 70+ years old is bound to need some TLC. Case in point, the indoor kennels are in rough shape. The chain link gates have been chewed through and patched, and old kennel panels and boards serve as makeshift roofing to keep climbers and jumpers from getting out. Tomorrow, will be replacing rotted poles with new ones, dilapidated kennel gates with safety chain link gates, and installing roofing that’s custom made to fit these kennels. There’s more to be done, but functionality trumps appearance and tomorrow is a huge step forward for the facility and Scenturion K9!

Congratulations to our newest Basic Detection Course graduates!

So what did you do this weekend? We spent a whirlwind weekend in Orlando where Kayla competed in the USA Down. Syndrome Swimming/Athletes Without Limits National Championships. She swam 15 individual races and 4 relays in 3 days. In evening finals she swam 7 individual races and 4 relays and came home with a whopping 10 medals, including National Championships in the 50 meter Freestyle and 50 meter Butterfly! Final count: 2 Gold, 5 Sliver and 3 Bronze. I can’t tell you how proud I am of her, gutting it out through fatigue, pain and inadequate sleep. She’s always had the heart and spirit of a champion, now she has the medals to go with it! So many people to thank-Coach Shelby for making the trip and her hard work with Kayla and and for a fantastic event for all these gifted and giving athletes! See you all next time!
