Fun fact: A police K9 getting a full grip bite is actually safer for everyone involved. A calm, full-mouth grip shows the dog is confident, properly trained, and in control, reducing the chances of frantic regrips or unnecessary injury while allowing handlers to safely end the encounter quicker.

After the apprehension of a suspect, the Irvine PD K9 team assisted with a thorough area search and successfully located fi****ms hidden nearby. A trained detection dog’s ability to quickly locate discarded weapons helps remove dangerous items from the community and provides an added layer of safety for officers and the public during critical incidents.
