Copper is looking for a very special person to take him home. Copper is a very sweet well behaved dog who loves to go on walks and walks well on a leash. Copper is an older guy so accidents in the house have been his biggest problem but he is enjoying his time with our fosters outside of the kennels. This young lady was found near the Franklin Pike/ Cannadays Gap intersection. No ID or microchip. She’s very sweet and knows sit and shake. She appears to have an old either injury or birth defect on her right front leg above her paw. She also has brindle colors mixed in across her back. If you recognize this dog or know the owner please call 540-745-9334 and leave a message for Sgt Thomas. If no owner is located she will be up for adoption on 12/24/25. Thank you!

Boone was adopted by his foster parents after he had been with them for 5 months in foster care. He became part of the family and they couldn’t imagine their farm without him! He now roams 30 acres at his leisure, warms the hearts of every visitor on the farm, and loves to protect his many farm animal friends.

We are so thankful for Miss Oaklee Nester today! For Oaklee’s 4th birthday she wanted things she could give to our dogs here at the shelter. As a community who loves their animals we should all be proud of Oaklee and wish her a very Happy Birthday! This scared guy was found at Calvery Baptist Church at 1400 Floyd Hwy N. He didn’t have any collar when found or identification. He had been around the church for about a week prior. If you recognize this dog or know the owner please contact Sgt Thomas at 540-745-9365. He will be on a 5 day stray hold and available for adoption on 12/8/25 if no owner is located thank you!

*****Copper is available for a foster to adopt******
Copper came to us very skinny and appeared he had been lost for along time. Copper is a 10+ year old neutered male hound mix. Over all Copper is healthy and getting better by the day. We would love to give him a loving home to gain some weight and get him back to around 75-80lbs. He was 60 at his last vet visit. Copper is very sweet and walks well on a leash. Coppers adoption fee has been sponsored and I would be looking for a foster to adopt home. During the foster period we would fix some dental issues and any other needs that come up till he officially adopted. The blue heeler from last night is with us at Floyd County’s pound. He got a bath today and some flea and tick meds. So ive learned he has his full tail, has no microchip, and is not fixed. He’s very sweet and could possibly be from a Franklin county residence based on where he was found. If you recognize this sweet boy please call 540-745-9365 and leave a message for Sgt Thomas.
