With a nose like no other, the Bloodhound is famous for its scent-tracking superpower—and for good reason. Dating back to medieval France and Belgium, these dogs were originally bred by monks (yes, monks!) to track game and even people. The term "blooded hound" referred to their noble, carefully bred lineage.

Over the centuries, Bloodhounds became indispensable in law enforcement and search-and-rescue, capable of following scent trails that are days old. But don’t let their working roots fool you—they’re also sweet, soulful companions known for their droopy ears, wrinkled skin, and gentle eyes.
