Everybody needs some buddies!

Many of our kitties are very social and would love to be pals with other friendly cats, or dogs!

Adopting for the first time? We highly recommend that kittens go in pairs. They cuddle, play, and explore together. They adjust more quickly to new environments. They keep each other company when you are away. They'll love you just as much, and they'll be happier and well rounded. We do give a discount when you adopt two.

Note that some of the animals pictured here belong to our foster families. They're teaching their foster friends how to form positive connections, making it easier for them to bond with others in the future. Curious about who will be available soon? Check the website! Azcarerescue.org

Hello there, I'm Carlotta.

I'm almost one, and I already had kittens! They've all been adopted, and now I'm ready for a home of my own.

I'm a sweet, affectionate girl. I like to sleep curled up next to my favorite people. I'm curious and playful.

It takes me a couple days to adjust to a new environment. When I first got to my foster home, I'd slink around on my belly and hide. Now I want to be where the people are. I want to cuddle and play.

Hi! I'm Walden, and I've had an adventure!

I was born in an atttic. When my siblings and I became mobile, four of us fell where mama couldn't reach us very well. We cried and cried.

The homeowners heard us and cut holes in their ceiling to get us out! I was the first one they got out. They used a stethoscope and borrowed an infared camera to find us all.

My mama cat was clever and got food from the trap without setting it off, but the homeowners were determined, and they trapped her, too!

Now we're getting all cleaned up and fed fat with AZCare Rescue.

Meet my siblings: Atticus (black), Stud (orange), Spackle (calico), and Eaves (tuxedo like me).

Barney and Betty can't stand being caged up when there are people to play with! Barney wants to come out of the habitat and get all the love. Betty comes in for the assist but can't quite figure out the lock. Want to bust out this loveable pair? Schedule a meet and greet on our website!

Barney and Betty are bonded and must be adopted together. They are about a year old and are fixed, vaccinated, felv/fiv tested negative, dewormed, and microchipped. They are good with kids and other cats.

AZCARE Rescue is looking for a adopters and fosters

ADOPTERS - We have several adult kitties that need their forever homes. Most need time and patience before being comfortable in their new homes. A couple will always be skittish and shy but are loving in their own ways. If that is something you are looking for, please let us know.

FOSTERS - We are looking for some fresh faces to add to our family. We have space for all different types.

*The "I love kitties" type - Looking to foster sweet and friendly cats and kittens until they are ready for adoption.

*The "I want to help the helpless" type - Willing to foster adults (Desperately Needed!). Understanding this could possibly be a longer term then a quick kitten turnaround. Everyone wants to foster kittens but adults need fosters too!

*The "I'm a pro!" - Familiar with tough cases that will need a ton of patience and kindness to earn their trust and make them adoptable. This can be adults coming from a rough situation to semi-feral kittens. Training provided

"The "I'll do anything" type - oh, we've got you covered!

We give all the supplies and tools needed to be successful! Food, litter, toys, bedding, etc is provided. You just need to offer a home, love and transportation.

**Terms- You must be committed to stay on with us (not a one and done sort of thing). - You can NOT adopt from your first litter if doing kittens (trust us on this one). - You must be willing to take direction, care for any illness (meds and instruction provided), and complete all tasks (photos, vaccines, vet appointments, adoptions).

They were good. They loved their families. They were returned to the rescue.

We want to ensure a safe future for every kitty who comes through our program, so when things don't work out, we go to work. We provide problem solving suggestions to try to help keep kitties with their families. Some still come back.

These sweet kitties are looking for a forever family. They are fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, felv/fiv tested negative, and microchipped. They are litterbox trained and healthy, though Pizzazz will need a family committed to keeping her on her diet no matter how she begs, little chonker.

Mami is looking for somebody to love this holiday season- and forever after!

Mami came in as a stray with kittens in tow. All her babies have grown and flown, and this empty nester is looking for her own happily ever after.
Mami is initially shy and will hide until she is comfortable. Once she feels at home, she's a snuggly sweetheart. Mami would prefer a generally quiet home, though she wouldn't mind having another gentle kitty friend or two.

We have the sweetest pumpkins in our patch!

Riesling, Cabernet, Toast Malone, and Notorious CAT are haunting the cat habitat in the Queen Creek Petsmart. You can see these pretty boys there, and once you've picked your favorite pumpkin, request a meet and greet on our website.

Let's not forget Broccoli. While veggies are an unlikely thing to find in your candy bucket, we think this boy is pretty sweet!

All five are fixed, vaccinated, felv/fiv tested negative, dewormed, and microchipped. Ready to go!

What’s up everyone? I'm Marlee!
My favorite thing to do is Play with my foster sister. I have a lot of energy and I want to play all the time. We chase each other and wrestle all day!
What makes me special is I am the pug of all pugs! All snort and snuggles. I love being held, playing with kids and other dogs and all my stuffies. When I am away from my friends, I do have a tendancy to whimper until I'm with them again. As with most pugs, when I exert any effort at all, my huge tongue comes out and I breath very loud. If you want a really quiet dog, I'm not the one for you.
I want my new owner to know I will need someone who is familiar with the pug breed and all the comes with it. I also will need to be reminded to eat. I love playing so much that I forget to fuel up. I tend to ignore my food completely unless there is some wet food in it to help me get it down.
When I am feeling playful I like to…Chase my doggy friends, play tug, wrestle, chew my stuffies, get all the belly rubs and snort of course. When it is time to rest I sleep I like sleeping in my kennel all snuggled in blankets.
I am good with Cats, Dogs, Kids By nature I am…Energetic, Cuddly, Playful, Social, Loud, Affectionate, I like to be held.

Who is that in the Petsmart habitat?

Ioni Dodonna and Admiral Kaminska!
These sweet sisters are the last of a set of nine kittens taken in from a backyard shed. The mother cat was unfortunately found deceased, so the caring homeowners asked AZCare for help.
Ioni and Kam are fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, felv/fiv tested neg, and microchipped. Though Ioni can be initially shy with new people, both are sweet and cuddly, playful and inquisitive.

Alamo is a sweet polydactyl kitten originally found with his brothers, Avis (also polydactyl), Budget, and Thrifty in the parking lot of a rental car agency..

Not going to sugarcoat this one. This adoption update made us cry a little.

"I'd like to share an adoption update and pray you allow my post.
We adopted Bellini in 2020 as a companion for our son as he dealt with being "in" school from home due to Covid. Only a few months into welcoming our precious new addition, he became ill. Bloated belly and lethargic with no interest in drinking, eating, or playing like a kitten should. We took him to the vet only to get the devastating news he was diagnosed with FIP. This diagnosis was gut-wrenching, a curse but also a blessing. We were connected with an amazing community on FB through our savior vet. We were able to get him on treatments, although unfortunately not FDA approved for veterinarian use (damn drug companies who could care less about our kitties), but a treatment that saved his life. He is now 2yrs cured and living his best life. He is the king of our castle, and we couldn't imagine life without him. This journey with our Bellini was a curse and a blessing as I mentioned because it was filled with tears and fears, but a blessing because we can now give a voice to all the kitties that come after him diagnosed with this horrible disease.
See, when you adopt, you are not only opening your home for a soul to be loved and cared for, but you are also opening your heart to a soul who fills your soul with so much unconditional love. I write this in hopes that you share our story so I can help anyone else out there who may face this. This is no fault of a rescue, you just never know when this monster may rear its head and often times very hard to detect and diagnose. I also know that sometimes speaking of FIP can be taboo, but I just want to shed light and hope that miracles can happen, and I'll be happy to hold your hand through the process. Here's our FIP Warrior and Survivor Bellini, the king of the castle and king of my heart ❤️"

Thank you for loving him and taking care of him. We've lost so many cats to FIP over the past 5 years, and we love the updates for all the animals that have been loved by us and our fosters.

"I wanted to share an adoption update also! We adopted Cindy (formerly Azathoth - which we pull out like a middle name when she's in trouble 😉) almost a year ago. Everyone in the family loves her. She's playful, curious, friendly, and stinkin' cute. Just yesterday, someone mentioned they might get a cat, and I recommended AZ Care! I am so grateful to all the volunteers for their efforts, and we feel so lucky to have Cindy in our family!"

If you're shopping in the Queen Creek Marketplace this weekend, stop by Petsmart and say hello to these lovely ladies in the habitat!

Rey is quite shy at first, but given the chance to relax and come out of her shell, she is very talkative and loving, and will rub against your legs and roll over for you to pet. She would do best in a calm, quiet household and loves other cats. Rey is a long timer with AZCare and is well loved by all our volunteers, and we'd be thrilled fpr her to find her purr-fect home.

Next up? Three year old Aquila was found in front of the Ace Hardware store in Queen Creek, greeting all the customers. One of those customers happened to be an AZCare volunteer! She had a microchip, but the information on it was no longer valid and since no owner has come forward, she's been cleaned up, fed well, and had her vaccines, deworming, and testing done. She is ready for some new digs. She is a social sweetheart, loves to sleep up next to her favorite people, and does great with kids and other cats.

We love the updates!
Stargirl was adopted in March of 2021 after testing positive for FeLV. She came to AZ Care when she was found in someone's yard in Mesa. She had trouble breathing and severe eye infections. Her foster found a combo of homeopathic medicines that helped her improve and be able to go up for adoption.
Over 2 years later, she is a happy, healthy girl enjoying her forever home.

A note on FeLV: FeLV is Feline Leukemia. It affects 2-3% of cats in the US, and is something AZCare always tests for. Unlike FIV, FeLV is very contagious and a cat with FeLV must be an only cat or only be in a household with other FeLV positive cats. It is not contagious to people or other animals.
FeLV has no defenitive cure. There is an effective vaccine that is not considered a core vaccine and is therefore not administered by all rescues, but AZCare does vaccinate for FeLV.
Cats who test positive for FeLV can live normal, happy lives for long periods, but the median survival time after diagnosis is 2.5 years. We love and appreciate adopters willing to give FeLV positive kitties like Stargirl a wonderful, quality life.

"BIG Adoption Update!

Our journey with AZ care began in October of 2020 when we adopted our first two babies, Beef and Baby Girl (originally named Troilus and Cressida). I was a little reluctant since this was my first experience with cats but quickly fell in love! These two tabbies have the most unique personalities and are so lovable! Baby Girl is our resident "biscuit maker" and Beef is the best cuddler in the house.

We then adopted Goldie in April of 2022. He is much less social but a big, beautiful boy. He tends to keep to himself but is clearly enjoying life as a spoiled kitty.

Finally, in January of this year, we were lucky enough to bring home Bear (originally Hawaii). He is an absolute joy! The sweetest and most playful kitty ever! Bear demands to play fetch with nerf balls all day long and is a friend to everyone he comes across.

We are so grateful to AZ Care for giving us the opportunity to grow our family with such awesome cats!"

Miguel (🤍) and Tulio (🖤), formerly Freddy and Socko (YAY iCarly!) have made our lives complete. They’ve remained the kings of naps, and developed a level of crack head energy that has all of us in tears sometimes. Tulio is the king of the sneak attack, and will carry a full on conversation with you (as well as scream if he thinks he’s alone 😂), and Miguel seems to always have some sort of mystery going on that he can never quite solve. They are our favorite snuggle buddies, as well as each others. We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to be their furrever home and family ♥️"

He has been a great little brother to our Tazzy. We love our Chester Chuck, and I fell in love with him at 1st sight on the web. Donna did an amazing job fostering him!!"

Another adoption update!! ❤️

Hi, here’s my adoption update:
We adopted Nezumi as a kitten from AZ Care just before Christmas so that our other kitten that we rescued as a stray could have a companion. I had never had a cat before so I binge watched Jackson Galaxy YouTube videos and found out that kittens thrive in pairs. Turns out, it was a great decision as Kakashi and Nezumi became bonded ❤️ Nezumi is almost two years old now. She enjoys going outside to get some sun every morning (supervised, of course), daily treats, and play time. She is still timid at times but very sweet.
