Arizona Correctional Industries

Arizona Correctional Industries Real work. Real skills. Real change. Our work is centered on building safer communities by creating real workforce opportunities for incarcerated individuals.

Arizona Correctional Industries connects quality products and skilled labor to the marketplace while giving incarcerated individuals the tools to build a better future for themselves and the communities they return to. Arizona Correctional Industries (ACI) is a self-sustaining division of the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR). Inside Arizona’s state correctional

facilities, ACI runs modern production and service programs where individuals gain hands-on training, practical experience, and job skills that can support a successful return to the community. From printing and furniture manufacturing to metal fabrication, signage, vehicle wraps, and supplemental labor, ACI provides high-quality products and services to government agencies, nonprofits, and business partners across Arizona. At our core, we exist to reduce recidivism, strengthen Arizona’s workforce, and deliver meaningful value to the communities we serve.

Large Language Models (AI) can draft contracts, analyze data, and write code in seconds. What they can’t do is weld a structural beam, rewire a panel, custom-upholster an interior, or operate precision machinery on a shop floor.

As AI reshapes traditional desk jobs, physically skilled trades are proving to be the most resilient, stable, and high-demand careers in the modern economy.

We have trained people in these trades for years and set them up for success after incarceration. Many of these individuals have jobs lined up the day they are released; many start their own businesses; and many become master craftspeople, mentors, and trade leaders in their communities and beyond.

Additionally, they are 46% less likely to return to prison and have 74% fewer new felony convictions than non-participants within the first year of release.

Mastering a skill is only half of the work. Knowing how to pitch yourself and your skillset is what secures a job.

True workforce readiness goes far beyond the workshop floor. Through mock interview sessions and resume workshops, participants learn how to translate their hands-on experience, certifications, and work ethic into strong, professional resumes.

Dedication that extends beyond the material.

We’re so grateful to Christine for taking the time to share such a meaningful message alongside her review. Her words capture exactly what our programs strive to instill: dedication, care, and transformative skill-building that goes far beyond the workshop.

Thank you, Christine, for supporting our mission and recognizing the heart behind the craft!

Everyday, over 1,300 participants show up to work to turn effort into opportunity and behind them is a skilled, dedicated trainer; someone teaching them the tools of the trade, offering guidance, and setting standard for excellence.

Through time, persistence, and hard work, our teams aren't just learning technical skills. They are building the work ethic and confidence that will carry them into a future defined by opportunity, purpose, and pride.

Skills can be taught, but true transformation happens when people have the right support system behind them.

Thank you to our incredible team of trainers who make this impact possible every day.

You might be surprised by what gets built, baked, and trained at Arizona Correctional Industries.

Most people know we produce the state's license plates. But through our development programs, our participants also:

- Train wild horses and burros for adoption alongside professional trainers.

- Bake over 100,000 dozen loaves of fresh bread for local partners.

- Craft custom cabinetry and restore historic artifacts

It's all about mastering trade skills that turn into steady careers. When people gain solid experience and a strong work ethic, our whole state benefits.

When you visit a park in Arizona, chances are you've sat at a table or on a bench built by our team.

Craftsmanship is only half the story. The real heart of these products comes from the purpose behind them: building skills, working together, and offering people a genuine second chance.
