Genesee County Animals in Need of Homes and Rescues Mission: To network and help the animals of Genesee County (MI) Animal Control find homes and rescues, along with helping the community.

The reason for this page is simple, to help save as many as we can. The administrators are very active VOLUNTEERS at the Genesee County Animal Control that are in the kennels each week socializing our homeless dogs and cats. We spend countless hours trying to network and save these animals by advertising, and trying to find rescues and adopters. We many times have animals that are not at the shelt

er that are in need. Flint and the surrounding area is in desperate need of help for our animals. There are few rescues in our county to help move our homeless dogs and cats along. Please help us share the animals we post on this page so that they can all find the homes that they deserve.

DENALI!!! Meet this beautiful queen at Genesee County Animal Control this princess has been so overlooked!!! She is listed as no other pets but not because she isn’t good with other dogs but she is protective of food and toys to other pets but I swear she is all the pup you will ever need come meet this beautiful queen and fall in love !! BE STILL MY HEART… MEET HOPSCOTCH! ♥️🐾

This tricolor queen is truly one of the most beautiful pups we’ve ever seen. She stole all of our hearts the moment she got here… 🥰

Hopscotch is a bit timid at first, but once she has been given time to warm up, she becomes the ultimate zoomie queen. She’s a snuggly princess who just wants to be with her people. She knows ‘sit’ and would love to continue learning with her forever family.

This cute little angel baby is about 1 year old and 59 pounds. She requires a meet and greet with other dogs living in the home. Because she’s working on her overall confidence, she would feel most comfortable with older children.

GLORIA: THE SKUNK QUEEN OF GCAC 🦨

Gloria has absolutely flourished in her temporary foster home, but she’s still on the hunt for her forever family. Please share to help us find them! 🐾

Our woodland creature lookalike Gloria is truly going to thrive with an active family that is able to provide plenty of playtime and exercise. She’s a girl on the go, but she also has a snuggly, affectionate side. She would greatly benefit from having a fenced in yard, although this is not a requirement.

Gloria is about 1.5 years old and 49 pounds. She appears to be dog friendly with proper intros and would do best with older children. She is a great dog who was having a really tough time at the shelter. She is not the kind of dog that can handle shelter life long-term, so please help us share her. We’d love to get her adopted before she has to come back from her foster home.

CUTIE ALERT… MEET SCOUT! 🩵🐾

Scout is an awesome dog. He’s playful, energetic, and loving. He’s only about 1 year old, so he has his whole life ahead of him. He’s eager to learn and grow with a family of his own.

Scout is medium-sized at 51 pounds. He appears to be dog friendly and would most likely love to have a canine BFF to run around and play with. We can see it now… Scout frolicking happily around the yard of his forever home with another dog, tails wagging and ears flopping. (Of course, this wouldn’t be until after plenty of decompression and slow intros have taken place. 😉)

Scout is looking for an active family that will give him plenty of playtime and exercise. He would feel most comfortable around older children as he can be a bit shy of new people and places.

*Scout does need to go to a cat-free home.*

💙 THE HANDSOME MR. NITRO 💙

Don’t forget about the most handsome boy ever — Nitro! 🖤 This sweet, shiny-coated guy has completely stolen our hearts at GCAC. He’s one of those dogs that just makes everyone smile — gentle, affectionate, and so happy to see you.

Nitro is about 3 years old and 67 pounds, and he’s dog-friendly (he even came in with Benny the doodle!). Since he’s lived in a home before, we’re confident he’s house-trained and already knows how to be a good boy indoors. He’s just missing one thing — his family.

No kitties for this handsome fella, and we recommend kids 6+ just because he’s a bigger boy who loves to play and get attention. Nitro’s sweet nature and calm personality make him a volunteer favorite. He’s so ready to trade his kennel for a cozy couch!

Come meet this amazing dog — we promise you’ll think he’s as special as we do. ❤️

SHEPHERD LOVERS UNITE! ♥️🐾

This handsome boy is Hot Toddy, and he would love to find an adopter that has experience with the shepherd breed. He is an energetic, playful guy who loves to go for walks/runs, explore the world around him, and chase after a good tennis ball. He says he’s the fastest pup at the shelter!

Hot Toddy is estimated to be 1.5 years old and 50 pounds. He hasn’t shown much interest in other dogs here, so a meet and greet is always a good idea. He would do best with older children who can keep up with his active lifestyle. He can be a bit jumpy at times but takes direction well. He’s eager to learn and already knows ‘sit’ and ‘shake’.

This fluffy boy is also very affectionate and sweet. He loves people and just wants to be close to you for love and snuggles.

Our Story

The reason for this page is simple, to help save as many animals as possible. The administrators on this page are active VOLUNTEERS that work with the employee’s at Genesee County Animal Control to help promote the animals at the shelter and find them loving homes or rescue.

Many of the volunteers are at the kennels each day socializing the homeless dogs and cats. Countless hours are spent networking and advertising the animals based on the information provided by the shelter. In addition to the shelter work, many times we work to help provide help to other animals in need that are not actually in the shelter, but rather in the Flint area. There are so few rescues in our county to help move our homeless dogs and cats. Please help us share the animals posted on this page so that they all find the loving homes they deserve.
