g a rescue Shetland Sheepdog or Collie in your local area. Our AKC Shelties are bred primarily for our own enjoyment. With excellence as our goal, we at Serenade Shetland Sheepdogs/Collies have founded our kennel on the champions of Marnus, Tomelle, Twin Acres, Twin Creeks and Parader,, Belmark , Apple Acres

We salute these breeders for their dedication and the consistent outstanding quality of their Shetland Sheepdogs/Collies. Serenade is striving to continue this tradition of quality by producing the perfect Shetland Sheepdog & health, proper movement, elegance, balance, expression, great temperaments and soundness. Holistic integrated wellness approach to our pets health care. We have chosen to place these exquisite, quality, healthy, puppies in forever loving emotional support, agility or obedience performance companion/pet homes on AKC limited registrations. We bred primarily for ourselves, so we choose to no longer place our puppies in breeding/show homes. We just don't have the time to mentor. We don't always place pups at 8 weeks old, we ultimately will be determined by date of second puppy vaccine/booster or may make them available at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months etc, instead. The additional time, ensures that we care to make sure that you get the pup that is exactly what you want, we care where our puppies go. These puppies may not be showable due to size, bite, or coloring but they are every bit champions in their role as pet companions. Enjoy all of our pictures & videos. All while maintaining confirmation, intelligence and standard of the Shetland Sheepdog breed. For more questions, comments or information contact: [email protected]

Owning, showing & breeding family Collies/Shetland Sheepdogs has been a dream come true. I refuse to become the kind of breeder who loses her heart in the process.

I’ve seen it happen.

People start out loving the dogs… and somewhere along the way, they love the income more.

The spark fades.
The calling turns into convenience. The dogs become numbers. The litters become paychecks.

And I promised myself a long time ago that would never be me.

I refuse to be the kind of breeder who looks at a heat cycle and sees dollar signs instead of responsibility.

Who treats dogs like inventory instead of souls.

I refuse to chase trends, colors, patterns, viral looks at the cost of health, temperament, and stability.

Because these are not accessories.
These are living, breathing little hearts who will grow into someone’s family member.

And I refuse to forget the families waiting on the other side of these puppies/dogs.
The kids who’ve prayed for a dog.

The mama who needs companionship.
The couple starting their little life together.

I will never be the breeder who takes the payment, hands over the puppy and emotionally clocks out.

To me, placing a puppy isn’t a sale it’s an extension of my heart walking out the door. You become an extended family member.
I refuse to breed for attention.
For likes.
For clout.
For bragging rights.
For the approval of the internet.

I refuse to be the breeder who stops learning.
Who gets comfortable.
Who stops asking questions because “I’ve been doing this long enough.” I'll never stop learning.

The moment I stop growing is the moment I stop deserving these precious dogs.

Instead, I choose to be the breeder who still feels everything.

Who still gets butterflies every time a mama goes into labor.

Who panics a little at every quiet puppy.
Who sets alarms through the night “just to check one more time.”

Who celebrates every tiny milestone like it’s the first time I’ve ever seen it. Remembering every birthday. I have all my records/agreements from day one, Christmas cards , photo updates they mean the world to me.

I choose to be the breeder who prays over her dogs,
before breeding, during pregnancy, during whelping, and long after the puppies leave.

I choose to carry the emotional weight of every life I help bring into this world.
The hard decisions.
The sleepless nights.
The fear.
The joy.
The heartbreak.
All of it.

When a puppy is born here, they take a piece of me with them.
And that doesn’t fade after nine weeks… not ever.

I choose to be the breeder who would rather have one exceptional litter
than ten rushed, careless, poorly planned ones.

Because at the end of the day, anyone can put two dogs together.
Anyone can post pictures.
Anyone can sell puppies.

But not everyone is willing to carry the emotional, physical, and moral weight that comes with truly ethical breeding.

Not everyone is willing to say “NO” when money is on the table.
Not everyone is willing to do things the right way when no one is looking.
Not everyone is willing to put their heart on the line again and again and again.

But I am.

As long as I am doing this,
this is the standard I will hold myself to.
Whether it’s easy or not.
Whether people understand or not.
Whether anyone ever sees the behind-the-scenes or not.

Because these dogs deserve it all.
The families deserve it.
And my heart… could never live with anything less. 🤍
Choosing the best possible furever homes will never get easier. ❤️🐾 I do my best.
Salina the breeder behind the dogs.

🎄 A PET IS NOT A CHRISTMAS GIFT 🎁
Here’s a powerful poem to remind us why:

“Batteries not included…”

It is Christmas day today,
And all are full of cheer, But I lay freezing on the step, I always sleep right here.

I never get to go inside, And join in all the fun, I’m what they call a yard dog, When all is said and done.

They have given me some scraps, I think it was last week,
Now laying in the snow today,
I am feeling tired and weak.

I can hear the children playing,
As my head lay on my paws,
This time just last year, I was a gift from Santa Claus.

I don’t know what I did wrong,
To be shut out in the yard, I only lived inside 6 months, Since then my life’s been hard.

The snow is falling heavy now,
I’m just a block of ice, And when I breathe the cold cold air, My lungs feel like a vice.

A miracle then came to pass,
An Angel did appear, She glowed, and I could feel the heat, As she floated near.

She reached her hand and beckoned, It was such a sight to see, She smiled and said “Good Dog, It is time to come with me.

I will take you to the bridge,
Where all the Good Dogs go, You can play there in the sunshine, There will be no freezing snow.”

My bag of bones stood up then,
I shook the snow from off my fur, And, as I slowly followed,
This is what I said to her.

“I am not a Good Dog though,
In that I think you’re wrong, No one would shut a Good Dog, In the garden for so long.”

The Angel turned and smiled,
As I walked with head hung low,
Then she said “I’m sorry, I thought that you would know.

You really are a Good Dog,
The reason why your time is up,
It is just unfortunate, You were born a Christmas pup.”

I now live at the Rainbow Bridge, And I am filled with joy,
But remember this at Christmas time, A dog is NOT a toy.

To clarify this message, To which I have eluded, Animals are living things, Batteries are not included.

HOW MUCH FOR A PUPPY?

Let me say a few words to you, the person who writes an email to simply ask the price. The person who also calls and surprisedly states: “I can buy a cheaper dog elsewhere”. I also address you; the person who just wants “a pet”.

Not a single dog is just a dog.

Behind every pure bred dog is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory, the I have puppies available all year type of people. When you select to buy a dog from a breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every dog; owned and also sold. This breeder will skip holidays, sleeping, laying in bed and most of their own house space as this will be turned into space for their dogs. The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart into it. Not only in puppies that are sold but also in those who get sick and die.

A breeder will get their hands dirty, often covered in placentas and mud. Because that’s what life is about: birth and death.

In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do progesterone tests, echos, xrays, analysis, c sections, vaccinations, research pedigrees, deworm, as well as chipping their puppies and getting them evaluated by specialists.

Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their puppies. Yes, you read that right. A true breeder chooses who they sell to.

Because it is not “just a dog”.

Our beautiful Lil Diva 🖤🤍🐾 &
Stunning boy Clint 🖤🤍🐾
On October 1st, National Black Dog Day sheds light on the adoption challenges faced by black dogs all due to Black Dog Syndrome.

We encourage you to showcase your black dogs.
Happy National Black Dog Day!
It’s a phenomenon! Unfortunately, black dogs are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their coloring. Regardless of behavior, size, breeding, personality, or age, the phenomenon persists. Data reveals that coat color alone contributes to lower adoption rates for black dogs, regardless of age, breed, or temperament.
