Dog recall training is one of the most underrated skills you can teach your pup. When your dog responds to your call in high-distraction environments, you’ve built real trust — and real safety. Here’s how we approach it. 👇
A solid recall doesn’t happen overnight — it’s built through consistency, repetition, and making you the most rewarding thing in your dog’s world.
Start indoors. Remove all distractions and practice in a quiet space first. Use a strong, consistent recall cue — one word, every time — and reward heavily when they come.
Move outside gradually. The backyard, then a quiet park, then busier environments. Each new setting is a new challenge, so always set your dog up to succeed before raising the bar.
Add real distractions. Other dogs, new smells, squirrels — this is where recall is tested. Practice around the things that actually compete for your dog’s attention so they learn that nothing overrides your call.
