Light Rein Farm Rehab & Rehome

Light Rein Farm Rehab & Rehome A page dedicated to information and activities to support our efforts to rehab and rehome kill pen horses and other equines in need.

To use our hobby of horseback riding, training, and teaching to save, rehab, and rehome one horse at a time. We do not currently have a non-profit status, but may look into this in the future. Any donations and contributions are directed solely to the animals and their care. No money is directed to any managing party. All work and time is volunteered. All horses are sold to loving homes with vet an

d farrier references requested. Our horses are not adoption horses. All horses are sold on a normal purhcase contract. Light Rein Farm will gladly take back any horse sold through our farm if and when an owner decides they need rehome the horse. We also offer to help owner's who find their lives have changed help market and re-sell their horses purchased through our farm to the horses next loving home. At this time we are unable to do buy-back as all excess funds are directed back into care and training of our next wonderful horse.

No new photos today, but we had a successful ride in the indoor arena! I'm very happy with Miss Karats! We worked on the ground first, lunged on a line, and she was great! We did try a hackamore today, it will take time for her to get used to it, but eventually she will. After that, I put her in a regular bridle with a 3 piece d ring and she worked very well in that.

Stephanie Layne from Healing Hands Equine Massage came out yesterday to give Karats a massage! I'm pretty sure I can say that she loved it! She came out a lot looser, and I learned a lot about the musculature of horses. We also learned about carrot stretches, and stretches to loosen up the hips and shoulders. I'm excited to have Stephanie back in a couple weeks to get another one!

Molly Smith has been working with Karats as well! They've been doing lots of Clinton Anderson's fundamentals ground work, and working on cruising in the round pen, asking for willing forward movement. This is ride number two for the pair! Unfortunately the photos and videos were too dark to post for their first ride. Molly told me that Karats was great for the ride!! Way to go you two!
