More cats that have died from bird flu after eating raw diets.

The cats from Multnomah and Clackamas counties were indoors and from different households but ate the same brand, Olympia-based Wild Coast Raw. Four have died.

The microchip company Save This Life Microchips has closed and unlinked all the microchip numbers from the national databases. That means if your pet gets lost, there is no way to find out your information from the chip number. If you have a microchip from them, they need to be re-registered with another company. We use HomeAgain, so if your kitty was chipped here, you are all good.

Another cat food recall. I think this one is raw as well.

STATESVILLE, NC - January 3, 2025- Blue Ridge Beef is recalling 1,350 lbs. of their 2 1b log Kitten Mix Lot N25-0716 UPC 8542980013436 due to a contamination of Salmonella. (Lot numbers are stamped in the clips on the end of the chubs/bags).

Two brands of raw cat food have been implicated in being related to cases of bird flu in cats:
Northwest Naturals Brand 2lb Feline Turkey Recipe Raw & Frozen Pet Food - There was bird flu detected and the company has voluntarily recalled this batch of food.
Monarch Raw Pet Food - Does not actually admit to any issues with their food but an indoor cat that was fed the food came down with bird flu, and four other cats in the household are ill.
Please don't feed your animals raw pet food or raw milk, as both can contain bird flu virus and make your cat sick. Humans have become ill with bird flu contracted by drinking raw milk products, too.

Please take note of some temporary changes in our hours over the next few weeks. We will be closing tomorrow at 5pm to give staff time to vote. Dr. G will also be out of the office from Wednesday, November 13th through Monday, November 18th. We will be closing at 6pm on Wednesday the 13th.
