This happy cat is 100% indoors only. Can you see his small friend on the floor there? Yup - that is a BAT. A bat that came inside on its own accord. Thankfully this owners cat is up to date with his rabies vaccination and everything turned out just fine.

A good reminder that even Indoor Only cats require a current Rabies vaccination!

We received this letter from our supplier this morning concerning Save This Life microchips. This provides you further resources for you to update your information. Again, if your cat was ever microchipped here at Tacoma Cat Hospital- the chip will be a Save This Life Chip.

This microchip company has stepped up to help those affected by the sudden closure of Save This Life. They are offering free re-registration of your pet information until 2/28/25. Understandably they are very busy - so be patient! 🫶🏻 😸

Register your pet microchip now. Buddy ID is identity protection for your pet. Manage owner info, launch a SearchAlert, take control of your pets safety.

We have just learned that the microchip company that we have used for many years has suddenly shut down and disconnected themselves from the microchip data bases. If your cat has a microchip from this company - Save This Life - your information and the microchip number needs to be re-registered with another data base.
Edit to add-if your cat has ever been microchipped here at our hospital- it will be a STL chip. Your cats chip number is located on your receipts and your cats rabies certificate
If microchipped elsewhere and the chip number begins with 991 or 900164 it will more than likely be a STL.
