Saving Duke. Day #8.

What? No love for the octopus video? 🐙

It’s hard to believe, but no one has reached out about this handsome boy Duke yet. We are officially kicking off June, and while we want to wish everyone a happy start to the month, our biggest wish is that Duke doesn't spend the entire month in the shelter!

Let’s make sure his stay at the League for Animal Protection, in Fincastle, Virginia, is a short one this June!

Saving Duke. Day #7.

It was a gorgeous morning to get back to the shelter and spend some time volunteering! Duke was thrilled to see us, and we wasted no time getting straight to his favorite game, playing fetch with his beloved octopus toy.

Saving Duke. Day. #6.

Look at this face. Just look at it. This is Duke. He is under a year old, which means he should be chewing on toys in a living room, zooming around a backyard, and curling up in a warm bed. Altough he is safe and very loved by the volunteers at the shelter until he is adopted by someone, he’s been spending his puppyhood in a kennel at the League for Animal Protection shelter in Fincastle, Virginia.

If you look at the kennel behind him, you can see just how small this sweet boy actually is. Duke doesn't belong in a shelter kennel, he belongs in a home where he can get all the love and comfort he deserves. If you have room in your heart and home for a medium sized cuddle buddy, come meet Duke today!

Saving Duke. Day #5.

Look closely at those big, soulful eyes. They have been doing a lot of watching lately. Duke watched his best playbud Yippy pack up and head out to a forever home. Then, he watched sweet Emily walk out the front door into a brand new life. Although Duke wagged his tail and was so happy for them, he’s more than ready for his own turn!

Duke is still waiting patiently at the League for Animal Protection in Fincastle, VA, hoping that today is the day someone looks at him and sees their brand new best friend. He is a young, energetic, and incredibly loving guy who is completely ready to fill your home with loyalty and joy.

Saving Duke. Day #4.

They say the best things in life are free, and Duke completely agrees! Today, he bypassed all the fancy shelter toys and found himself the absolute perfect stick.
Duke is a simple guy with a massive heart. He doesn't need much to be happy, just a good stick, a yard to run in, and someone to share it with.

Saving Duke. Day #2.

Check out this amazing throwback photo of Duke hanging out with everyone's favorite alumni, Yippy! (Speaking of Yippy, quick update—he is doing fantastic in his forever home and now goes by Murphy)!

This picture shows how small Duke actually is! Seeing him side by side with Murphy really shows it. He’s actually smaller than Murphy. That didn't stop him from holding his own in an epic game of tug-of-war, though!

Duke is a young, fun loving pup under a year old, weighing a perfect 30–35 pounds. He’s already proven he gets along great with other dogs and has a heart full of affection. ADOPTED! Two Wives. Saving Lives. save #34 is officially official. Our sweet girl Emily has found her perfect forever family! She is already settled into this loving home getting all the spoiled affection, couch snuggles, and happily ever afters she truly deserves. Thank you to everyone who shared her story, cheered her on, and helped her find her people. As they say, it takes a village, and we love ours! 💕🐾
