Sister & Casper showed up some time in 2015. With the help of a friend, they were trapped, spayed, given a rabies vaccine, ear tipped, and released. Theyโve been regulars at the food dishes snd heated beds ever since. Sister was always close by and set off the doorbell camera begging for food almost every day. Sisterโs fur was starting to get really matted. She started disappearing even though she acclimated to eating in the live traps almost immediately. Casper took a lot longer, then Sister disappeared again and I really wanted to get both girls close to the same time. I spent a lot of nights crying over the cats not showing up and I was still driving to the old house every day at the same time to keep them on their schedules. By this past Thursday evening, after about 4 days of constant monitoring with a new cellular trail camera, I was convinced that Sister was gone and I would have to go looking for her remains. Then, BOOM, there she was! And I caught her in the trap immediately!! Two hours later, after I had to go back and release a raccoon from the trap, Casper was there too and I was able to trap her as well! I think I spent a day in shock that I finally had both girls secured! ๐ณ
Today, both girls saw our friends at Personalized Veterinary - Behavior and Rehabilitation. Casper was given a rabies vaccine and a flea treatment. At her insHISStance, there was no physical exam. Sister had to be sedated to be shaved. She got a few nicks because the mats were so tight to her skin, but they got glued up and she also got an antibiotic injection, a rabies vaccine, a flea treatment, and a mini exam. We opted not to do bloodwork because if we did discover something wrong, she definitely would not be handleable for any type of treatment. Both girls have been released into their temporary room in the new barn. We will add their outside access and catio soon. Maybe as soon as they stop being mad at me. ๐พ๐พ๐พ
