One of the greatest compliments a dog can give you is not obedience. It’s the ability to relax.

In this video, our dogs are enjoying time around the goats completely off leash, but the real accomplishment isn’t that they’re off leash. It’s that they’ve learned how to be calm, make good decisions, and coexist peacefully around animals that naturally trigger a dog’s instincts.

Goats are prey animals. Movement, excitement, and curiosity can easily encourage dogs to chase, fixate, or become overly interested. That’s why we spend so much time teaching dogs not only what to do, but how to regulate themselves and simply exist in the environment around them.

True reliability isn’t about constantly giving commands.
It’s about creating dogs that understand boundaries, make thoughtful choices, and can relax even when distractions are present.

This level of freedom is built through trust, communication, consistency, and training.

Watching dogs learn to peacefully coexist with other animals never gets old.

One of the most underrated, yet life-changing skills a dog can learn is how to simply relax.
So many dogs today constantly live in a heightened state of stimulation. They feel the need to follow owners everywhere, stay busy at all times, react to every sound, or constantly seek engagement. While excitement is often mistaken for happiness, many dogs actually struggle because they never learn how to truly settle.
That’s where “place” training becomes so valuable
Teaching a dog place is about much more than staying on a bed. It teaches:
• impulse control
• patience
• emotional regulation
• calmness in the home
• confidence and boundaries
• how to self-settle instead of constantly relying on stimulation
Learning how to relax is a skill — and for many dogs, it does not come naturally.
When dogs understand how to turn “off,” owners often notice huge improvements in everyday life:

Miss sheera has checked in for the day. Sheera has been a long time client of mine. When I first met this feisty little black dog 4 years ago she was reactive to pretty much everyone and every dog who was not in her very small circle. Today sheera is a sweet lover girl who loves to make friends and can run around with a group of dogs with no issues!

Happy new year everyone! Effective starting today our training clients boarding rates will be increased by $10 a day. This will be for both regular boarding and boarding with training up keep.
