Why do Donkeys matter in The Christmas Story??✝️🫏

Donkeys appear more in the bible more than horses, They symbolize peace and faithful service.

Mary traveled to Bethlehem on a Donkey, They were the common, reliable travel animals of the time.

Donkeys were seen as protectors, They stayed alert and guarded people and livestock.

Donkeys symbolize humility not weakness, They carried heavy burdens quietly and were deeply respected.

Jesus later enters Jerusalem on a Donkey, From birth to ministry, the Donkey represents peace over power.

The cross on a Donkey's back is a popular legend linking the animal's distinctive dorsal stripe and shoulder markings to Jesus's journey to Jerusalem and crucifixion, symbolizing loyalty, humility, and service.

8 services and everyone did great! I told everyone the rehearsals beforehand wasn’t just for the people the animals definitely needed it to get used to the music, lighting, sound and texture of the flooring!

The Journey to Bethlehem

Luke 2:4–5

“So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee… to Bethlehem the town of David… He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.”

As the time drew near for Jesus’ birth, Mary and Joseph began the long journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Mary, heavily pregnant, rode on a donkey while Joseph walked beside her, guiding them along rocky paths and crowded roads. The journey was tiring and challenging, yet every step brought them closer to the place where prophecy would be fulfilled. Their faith and obedience remind us that God’s plan unfolds perfectly, even through the most humble and difficult journeys. Every step was part of His perfect plan, leading to the Savior who would bring hope and peace to the world.
