***AKC Rally Handler’s Seminar With Paula Thomason***

Paula has many notable achievements she has earned over 20 Rally Championship Titles with 5 different breeds. All but one Championship title was earned in a minimum of 20 triple events. Paula and her dogs have also earned over 200 High In Trial titles. In 2021 Paula had 4 dogs place in the top 10 (actually top 6) all breed AKC TOP DOGS IN RALLY

ORSON (A421086)

This handsome fella is Orson. He is an Australian Shepherd mix. Orson weighs 55 pounds and he's heartworm negative.
Orson was an owner surrender by no fault of his own due to unforeseen circumstances. The previous owner gave very little info. about Orson other than to say he lived outside and he's good with other dogs and children of all ages.
The shelter environment is a scary place for Orson with the loud noise and unfamiliar faces. Orson mostly hangs out on his bed as it is currently his comfort zone. He is quiet and calm in the kennel. Orson welcomed me into his space to get to now him better. I gave him a treat which he took gently. He relaxed somewhat and after spending a little time together he welcomed my pets.
Orson is trying to make the best of his stay here but he really just wants to go home. He needs some love, comfort, and reassurance that everything is going to be alright.
Orson wasn't quite ready to venture out of his kennel. It was a super busy day at the shelter with a lot of people passing by and all the dogs barking. We will go out to the yard the next time I go in.
Orson is ready to get back to having a home and a family to spend his time with. Please don't pass the shy ones by, they have a lot of love to give. We would love to see Orson get a loving and forever home where he can get back to being the great dog that he was meant to be. The shelter is full and all are urgent!

UPDATE. K9 Jax Has been located. Thanks to everyone that has assisted and shared our post!!

K9 Jax escaped from his handlers home earlier today. Search efforts have been ongoing for several hours, but as of this message, he has not yet been located.

While police K9s are trained for specific tasks, they share many characteristics with family pets—most notably their playful nature. K9 Jax is especially fond of chasing smaller animals like squirrels, and we believe this may have contributed to his departure from his handlers residence.

Please be assured there is no danger to the public. K9 Jax is not trained in aggression or bite work; his certifications are strictly in narcotics detection and tracking.

K9 Jax is not just a working partner, but a beloved member of our family. We hope for his safe return. Reports have been filed with Cumberland County Sheriffs Office and Cumberland County Animal Control. Thanks for sharing.

RiverRun Dog Training will be offering a Free Rally Seminar for Novice A competitors only. To qualify you must have entered the Rally ring at least one time with your Novice A dog, and not earned a Intermediate or Advanced Rally Title. This mini seminar will be sometime in April or May 2025.
