As we're heading into snake bite season, it's time to brush up on our do's and don'ts to keep our furry friends safe.

DO's:

Keep your yard tidy: Snakes love hiding in tall grass and piles of junk, so keep your outdoor spaces clean and clear.
Leash your pets and stay vigilant on trails: When you're out and about, keep your pets on a leash. It's the best way to control where they can go and what they can sniff out.
Educate yourself: understand the signs like suddenly limping, seeming unusually weak, or having swollen areas. Learn to identify common venomous snakes.

DON'Ts:

Don't panic: Stay calm and get your pet to the vet. Your calmness can help keep them calm too.
Don't approach or try to kill the snake: You could be bitten too. It is also illegal to kill non-venomous snakes in Georgia.
Don't try to treat it yourself: If you suspect a snake bite, get to the vet ASAP. Time is of the essence.

Not all snake bites show immediate signs. If you think there's a chance your pet has been bitten, don't wait. Our doctors are in clinic Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm and take lunch from 12pm to 2pm. The nearest 24 hour emergency hospital to us is SAVES and their number is (770) 460-8166.

We've reached the final post in our series about end-of-life care for our beloved dogs and cats. It's a tough topic, but one that's so important to discuss. Today, we're talking about the benefits of at-home euthanasia versus coming to the clinic.

At-home euthanasia allows your pet to be in a familiar, comfortable environment during their final moments. It can be less stressful for them, and it allows you the privacy to grieve. On the other hand, choosing to come to the clinic ensures immediate professional support and care.

There's no right or wrong choice here. It's all about what feels best for you and your loved ones.

Remember, it's okay to feel the way you do. Losing a pet is hard, and it's okay to grieve. You're not alone, and there are people and resources out there to help.

Thank you for joining us in this series. We hope it's been helpful and provided some comfort. Remember, we're here for you and your pet, every step of the way.

Today we're exploring a truly unique and eco-friendly option: communal cremation. Where your pet's remains contribute to the creation of a living coral reef.

The remains are turned into concrete reef balls. The textured surface of the memorial attracts coral polyps, and the hollow interior provides shelter for marine life for generations to come.

Your furry friend's legacy will live on beneath the waves. Providing a home for countless marine creatures and contributing to the health of our oceans. It's a beautiful way to honor their memory while giving back to Mother Nature.

Stay tuned for more on this topic and remember, while saying goodbye is never easy, the love we shared with our pets lives on forever.

We know how much your furry friends mean to you. They're not just pets, they're family. This week, we're focusing on a topic that's close to our hearts - end of life care for our beloved dogs and cats.

It's a tough subject, but it's so important to talk about. We want to make sure you're equipped with the knowledge and support you need during this challenging time.

We're also excited to highlight a virtual grief support group offered through our partner, Pet Angel. It's designed for adult pet parents who have experienced the loss of a beloved pet. Conducted by Pet Angel Memorial Services and led by Dr. Austin Shugart, PhD and Licensed Therapist, with Thrive Forward Therapy.

Remember, it's okay to grieve and it's okay to seek help. We're here for you every step of the way. Stay tuned for more resources and information this week. Together, we can navigate this journey with love and compassion.

This week, we're turning our attention to a topic that's close to our hearts - end of life care for our furry friends. It's a journey that's filled with love, care, and sometimes, a few tears. But it's also a time to celebrate the joy and companionship our pets have brought into our lives.

We'd love for you to join us in this conversation. If you feel comfortable, share a picture of your beloved pet who has crossed the rainbow bridge. Let's remember them, honor their memory, and share the happiness they brought into our lives.

Remember, it's not a goodbye, it's a see you later. Here's to celebrating the paw-some lives of our best friends.
