Did you know 20 minutes of mental enrichment can tire a dog out just as much as a walk? 🧠🐶 Just like humans need exercise for their bodies, dogs need stimulation for their brains.
In the wild, dogs spent most of their day solving problems — tracking scents, exploring environments, and figuring out how to get food. When our modern pups don’t get those opportunities, they often create their own entertainment… which sometimes looks like:
🐾 Chewing things they shouldn’t
🐾 Excessive barking
🐾 Digging
🐾 Wild zoomies at 10pm
Mental enrichment helps satisfy those natural instincts and can actually help dogs feel more relaxed and fulfilled.
Some easy ways to add enrichment at home:
🦴 Snuffle mats
🧩 Puzzle feeders
👃 Sniff walks (letting your dog lead with their nose!)
🍗 Frozen enrichment bowls
🎾 Hide-and-seek with treats
When I do visits and walks through Pawsitively Purrfect Pet Care, I love incorporating enrichment whenever possible so pups get both physical AND mental stimulation during our time together.
Because a tired dog isn’t just one who ran a mile…
It’s one who used their brain too.
