Friends of Cumberland County AnimalS The mission of the FOCCAS is to work in conjunction with CCAC to promote animal welfare initiatives. This is an open intake, county shelter.

This page is managed and maintained by volunteers supporting the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, the animals under the shelter's care and the community the shelter serves. IT IS NOT ADMINISTERED, MANAGED OR AFFILIATED WITH CUMBERLAND COUNTY GOVERNMENT OR THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER. Animals WILL BE EUTHANIZED for space when the shelter is full, as it is every week. DO NOT wait if you ar

e interested in any animal listed. Page Policies:

- Rude comments, personal attacks on shelter staff, volunteers, county officials, page admins, former owners or anyone else WILL NOT be tolerated. Admins will ban people who do not follow this policy.

- Comments found to be threatening, hurtful or offensive in nature will be removed and the commenter may be banned.

- We give you permission to share our animals and pictures - PLEASE DO! However, please leave contact information attached to the picture so that, four shares later, someone wanting to help or adopt one of our animals has the correct information.

- We cannot place a hold on animals through this page. YOU MUST CONTACT THE SHELTER DIRECTLY at 910-321-6852.

- Animals should not be considered safe until word comes from this page that the animal has left the shelter.

- All animals have only a 72 hour required hold and with the volume entering the shelter each animal should be considered extremely urgent.

Meet our beautiful girl Wanda. She may be a little shy at first but you can't blame her as she's surrounded by noisy dogs barking and unfamiliar faces. If you give her time, she will warm up and snuggle up close you. She enjoyed being outside away from all the noise. She was much more relaxed and soaked up all the pets and attention I gave her. Hammy (whose given name was Max) is a sweetheart! He arrived as a stray with a microchip. Sadly his owner was contacted but didn't bother to reclaim. He is 10 years young with plenty of pep in his step and a lot of love to give. This frosty face fella is surely going to win you over with his sweet personality and awesome doggy charm! * overwhelmed in the noisy shelter environment but her confidence is growing day by day

* welcomes pets once she feels comfortable with you
* she will nuzzle her face into your hand when you pet her and give little kisses

* loves to lounge on her bed with her soft blanket
* she knows the sit command

Maelyn is much smaller than she looks in her picture. She is very overwhelmed here in the noisy shelter. She mostly stays on her bed with her soft blanket for comfort. She wants to trust but she needs you to go slow with her. Once she gets to know you, she welcomes your love and attention. She is very gentle and she wants to please. Please don't pass the shy ones by, given the chance, they have so much love to give. Our shelter is FULL. Maelyn needs you to come take her home!
