Why Bullies are the greatest!Sure, they may chew up your favorite pair of shoes, but they are no doubt loyal, and very well natured. Saw this one in my feed this morning, and reminded me of how my daughter learned to walk. And, they were always there to clean up behind her, when she dropped something. Though, sometimes her favorite Barbie just didn’t make it.
Bullie are great with children! You will know a good Bulldog Breeder when you meet them, they are a little eccentric, and have a great passion for what they do.
We do not Breed Bullies anymore, and I do miss them all dearly. After 25 years, it became too difficult. Once my older Bullies begin to pass, I had all I coukd take. When I burried Doc Aint Skeered, I decided that was it. I have 22 Bulldogs buried in our Bulldog Cemetery, and I declared I would have no more. I raised many from the moment they were born, till the day they passed.
Each Birth, I was there in the surgery with our Vet. Sometimes, at 3:00 in the morning. Once they were delivered, we loaded up and came to our birthing room. Then, it was around the clock attention.
I had birthing boxes, with heating pads and lights. 2 weeks prior to birth, we begun feeding Our Dam Chicken, rice, and mixed veggies. This was her diet, until 8 weeks after birthing.
With out pups, we would mix 1 can of goats milk, with one can of hot water. This was only to help supplement their mothers milk. Because, their mothers milk is very important.
At 3 weeks of age, we would begin the goats milk, with gerbers rice baby cereal. It would be a liquidy mix and we would slowly thicken this mixture. Then, we would start adding science diet, softened with the goats milk mixture, and slowly thicken this. By the time they were 5 weeks old, they would start eating some hard science diet, by 6 weeks, they loved the hard food. And, were generally with their Families, by then. Whom we stayed is close contact with.
Raising English Bulldogs is the next closes thing to rasing children. Too me, it was the same as, because they require lots of attention. By day 10, after birth, you will see the Blue peepers. Which is what we callled, when they start opening their eyes.
Now, every good Breeder has their own style of rasing their Puppies. I am just sharing how we did, for you guys who are just starting out.
When you are supplementing with something, your have to be sure and burp your puppy, and make sure they use the restroom afterwards. One of our Sires, or the momma would like their little booties, to stimulate them to use the restroom. To say it the nice way. Or, we kept wipes and q-tips with some vasolene close. You can rub the little booties with the qtips, and this will help them go. This is very importantnt, after bottle feeding. You will notice momma bullie will always clean them after they eat, and it is just for this reason. M
Very rarely will a Dam not take to her Puppies. I sae this one time. And, I believe it was due to thr amount of Antistesia our vet had to use and the kind. He never used it again, becauser she was very droggy, for a day. But, another one of our Dams, took the puppies in. Though, she had already been fixed.
We only Bred our Bullies 3 times. And never back-to-back. Also, we would not Breed Our new Dams, until their 3, or 4th heat.
