This June, our team is focusing on shining a light on your pet’s behaviors — because behavior is communication.

Dogs and cats use body language, sounds, and actions to tell you how they feel, what they need, and sometimes what stresses them. Misunderstanding those cues can lead to frustration on both sides. Learning to interpret behavior helps enrich your pet’s life and your bond.

🌟 Employee Spotlight – May 🌟

This month, we are excited to recognize Heidi, one of our incredible kennel attendants at Best Friends Animal Hospital and Pet Hotel! 🐾

Heidi has been part of our team for a little over a year and a half while also attending the University of Arkansas as a student. Her dedication, compassion, and hard work make a difference every single day for both our patients and our team.

As one of the caring faces behind our kennel department, Heidi helps ensure every pet staying with us for boarding, grooming, baths, or drop-off visits is comfortable, clean, hydrated, and well cared for throughout their time here. She goes above and beyond to make sure each pet receives extra love and attention, helping them feel safe and happy while away from home. ❤️

Heidi is also incredibly passionate about keeping our facility clean and sanitary, taking extra care to maintain gold-standard biohazard protocols within our kennel department. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence help keep both our patients and team members safe every day.

Fridays are for puppies in buckets. 😂🪣🐾

Patches may just be the cutest little bucket visitor we’ve ever had, and our team absolutely loved getting to meet this sweet pup!

Puppyhood is the perfect time to build the foundation for a long, healthy life. Establishing a strong preventative care plan early with routine checkups, vaccines, and monthly preventatives helps keep puppies protected as they grow and allows us to catch and address health concerns early.

It’s also the best time to help puppies get comfortable with the important parts of lifelong care — like ear cleanings, tooth brushing, nail trims, and regular handling. Early socialization and positive experiences go a long way in helping puppies grow into confident, well-adjusted adults.

Thank you to Patches’ parents for trusting us to be part of his care — and for bringing him in bucket-style. We fully support it. 💛

🐾 Dr. Castleberry was absolutely starstruck this week after meeting a true celebrity at BFAHPH — Sunset! 🌟🐶

This tiny but mighty Chihuahua is kind of a big deal. Sunset holds an incredible 81 AKC titles across agility, Fast CAT, obedience, and more — and she also holds the most scent work titles of any Chihuahua in her breed! 👏🏅

We loved getting to meet this talented little superstar and celebrate all the hard work, dedication, and skill behind such an amazing accomplishment.

Congratulations to Azalea on earning her Heartworm Treatment Completion Certificate! 🐾🎓

Azalea has officially completed her heartworm treatment, and we are so proud of her for making it through every step of the journey. Heartworm treatment can be a long road, and Azalea handled it like a champ!

Unfortunately, in Northwest Arkansas, heartworm disease is something we see far too often due to our year-round mosquito population. The good news? Heartworm disease is preventable with consistent, high-quality heartworm prevention.
