Today marks a year without my best friend, Toby was a horse loved by many, he saw me through some of my hardest times, a soft warm landing place to talk and cry to. My heart will never fully heal from loosing him but I know that even though he is not here with me he is somewhere. Until we meet again my kind souled boy, I miss you

Horse Fact Time! 🐴

Let’s Talk Blanketing!

If you drive by the farm on a chilly day, you might notice some horses wearing their cozy “winter outfits.” But here’s the fun fact: just because we feel cold doesn’t always mean they do!

Each horse has different blanketing needs based on their coat, age, and how easily they stay warm. For example:

• Chip grows a great winter coat and is happiest without a blanket.
• Queenie gets cold easily and needs a blanket to stay healthy.
• Whiskey, as a senior, appreciates a little extra warmth.

Horse blankets come in different levels of warmth just like our sweaters and coats!

Horse coats are amazing at keeping them warm, so the goal is always to blanket based on the horse—not the weather alone.

Fun horse fact of the day! 🐎

Horses are constant grazers and need access to forage 24/7!

They can eat up to 2.5% of their body weight a day!

If we think about that in hay for our friend Queenie here that would be 27.5 pounds of hay a day!

Did you guys know that horses can see the chiropractor too?!

We are lucky enough to have a very wonderful chiropractor that has worked with all our horses.

Today was Chip’s turn, he has been having some issues with stiffness and restricted movement as well as tripping and they found a lot to work on! I thought his report was interesting and wanted to share it!
