This little girl was found in desloge yesterday with a missing tip of her tail and little use of her back legs, but she was alert and in good spirits.

She saw the vet today and she has a fractured right pelvis and no use of her left leg (possibly from a nerve injury). She can potty, but we’re not sure if she can control it. She was sent home with some meds and will be monitored to see how she progresses.

Donations to help cover her care are always welcome, but any info on rescues that take special needs kitties would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!!

An easy way to help on of our Poe’s Purpose alum… our three-legged Great Dane from the Bismarck Pound needs a lot of Cosequin supplements to keep his joints as healthy as possible for as long as possible. You can easily send them to his new family through our wishlist.

Do you all remember the two Great Danes that came into the Bismarck pound? One had heartworms and was tagged by Daisy’s Dane Sanctuary and one was a tripod and adopted by a couple that only adopts special needs and hospice dogs.

Thud, as the tripod is now called, is living his best life. After being evaluated by the family’s vet, we were told he’s now lovingly referred to as their “medical mess” — based on x-rays, his missing limb seems to be a birth defect. He also had a very crooked spine, a wonky shoulder and front leg, and some misplaced ribs. Despite all that, he’s a happy boy and his new family is providing him the best care to give him the quality of life he deserves.

Thud’s family is not associated with a rescue. They do everything they do for these animals out of the goodness of their hearts and the money from their own pockets. We know how fast those vet bills add up, and so we wanted to help in some way. One of the supplements Thud is on to help with his joints is pretty pricey, but it’s easily available on Amazon, so we’ve started a wish list to hopefully help them stock up and save a little money. If you can help by purchasing one, everyone would be very grateful! The link will be in the comments!

🐾Another quick update - we still don’t have test results back, but it’s been determined that he DOES have quality of life. He’s not in pain, he’s continent, able to eat and drink, and loves treats and pets. He’s out of the pound and staying with one of our volunteers while an adopter with experience with special needs dogs prepares to bring him home with her. There will still be additional vet care needs, so we’re going to make another post for him once we have test results back and can share everything we know. THANK YOU to everyone who shared anecdotes, resources, and other information to help us save this boy.

🐾Minor update: we’re getting additional testing done tomorrow (will keep everyone updated) and we have someone who works with special needs and hospice dogs coming to evaluate him to help us determine quality of life. If we think he can live as a happy dog, we’ll keep fighting for him. I’m adding a donation link to this post for anyone who wants to help fund that fight.

For those who haven’t been following his story, his symptoms are severe tremors. He does not seem to be in distress otherwise. We do not have any reliable history on him, so we don’t know how long they’ve been going on. Please continue to send good vibes his way.

🚨 MEDICAL RESCUE NEEDED 🚨

Despite additional testing and evaluations, we still don't have answers for this sweet boy. At this point, his medical needs are beyond what we have the resources to provide, and we are desperately hoping a rescue with more advanced medical capabilities can step in.

If he doesn't show improvement over the weekend and we're unable to find a rescue willing and able to take his case, we have made the heartbreaking decision to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge on Monday. 💔

Please share far and wide. We know Facebook can work miracles, and all it takes is the right person seeing this post. If you know of a rescue, sanctuary, or organization that may be able to help, please reach out. We're running out of time and want to give this boy every possible chance. 🙏

Unfortunately, our boy didn’t improve over night so we need to do further testing. That can get pricey, so any donations are greatly appreciated 😩 also, if there are any rescues with more resources willing to take him on, we would be very grateful!

These two pups were picked up and bright to the Desloge pound and our wonderful ACO immediately took them to the vet … besides being infested with ticks and worms and being malnourished, something neurological is going on with the little male 🥺

The vet is hopeful that it’s a toxin he ingested and that with meds and some TLC he’ll recover, but if it’s not … well, we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

We’ll keep you updated on their progress. If you’d like to donate to their care, you can through this post or at the link in our comments! Thank you!!
