It’s adoption day for Sahara, the last of the desert kittens! Swipe to watch her grow up over the last 12 weeks! I always end up bonding with the “last” one left with me, as they tend to get extra affectionate when their littermates and mom have all left. Sadly, this will also be my last litter of fosters for about a year, as I will be making a cross-country move and renting in a community with a pet limit to begin with. Here’s to new adventures and forever homes!

Fostering tiny, vulnerable babies is the best, and sometimes the absolute worst. Goodbye Kalahari, 3/16/25-5/29/25 💔

Kalahari was a completely healthy little girl until she experienced a complication from the endotracheal tube during spay leading to severe breathing issues and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia that didn’t respond to antibiotics. We tried what we could for her including some time on oxygen, but didn’t want her to be in distress any longer. 😢 🌈 🧡

Happy Mother’s Day, Honey! We rarely know the complete history of mother cats coming into rescue, but in your case we know your exact birthday (you became a mama when you were not even 1!) and know the fact that you were a first time mother. What amazing motherly instincts you have! Your babies are 8 weeks old today (officially old enough to be separated from mom by most standards, but I’m not sure how you’ll feel about that…still so attentive and willing to nurse 😻). Honey is available for adoption through Ruff Start Rescue.

Being orange and tiny apparently makes you very popular for adoption! 5/5 have potential or confirmed adopters for after spay/neuter at the end of May before they even hit the Ruff Start website! Now we just need to find Mama Honey’s forever home.

Meet new foster boys, Pavlov (tabby) and Skinner (lynx point). They were found together in a townhouse complex in Burnsville and brought to animal control. They are thrilled to be out of a cage racing around a room of their own, and are already excellent at operant conditioning: purrs when they’re fed or pet, growls when the other gets too close to their food. I was told they were 6 weeks old (definitely not)—they look 3-4 months to me!
