🌿🚫 Toxic Plants & Your Pets! 🚫🌿
We recently heard from a fellow veterinary clinic that treated a pet for plant toxicity after exposure to a Kalanchoe plant. Kalanchoe plants include some commonly found in various floral departments of stores or at plant nurseries, such as Mother of Thousands, Mother of Millions, Flapjack Plant, Elephant Ear. While these plants may look beautiful, they can be dangerous to your furry family members if ingested!
While toxicity of small ingestions of Kalanchoe species plants is usually mild and usually results in gastrointestinal irritation, ingesting larger quantities can lead to severe vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and even collapse. 😿🐶
⚠️ It's so important to keep these types of plants out of reach of your beloved pets or avoid bringing them home altogether. Even small exposures can lead to an emergency!
⚠️ Before bringing home any plants or floral arrangements, take a moment to double-check their safety. Many popular houseplants and bouquets contain species that are toxic to dogs and cats.
