I am opening up my schedule on weekend days for a handful of clients in the new area we serve!

Mastering a retrieve can be hard!

Here demo dog Pookah shows her retrieve skills!
I achieved this using a technique called back chaining which means in a way I taught the task in reverse!
First I taught her to rest her chin in my hand and eventually we put it all together! Because I taught the retrieve this way Pookah knows not to drop the item until she feels my hand on her chin!

In just one session Alfie went from barking and lunging at her across the yard to being able to calmly walk past Pookah!
We were able to achieve this by rewarding positive behavior like disengaging, walking calmly or sitting down to observe! We also practiced calmness in down stays with other dogs around!

It's almost that time of year again!!

While Luka was more then comfortable with this non animatronic skeleton I do not recommend putting your dog in the position to be scared or spooked by any halloween animatronics. Whether on walks or in stores please don't intentionally scare your dogs, it seems fun and light hearted but it can cause a lot of anxiety.
Posing for a picture with a non moving object that your dog is comfortable with is the way to get the best halloween pictures!

Improving your dogs confidence is not only great for them, it can also help improve the bond you have with your pup! Encouraging them to do something new helps show your dog that they can do things even when it's a little more challenging, and that you will help positively guide them along the way!

Loose leash walking is no easy task! Luka used to struggle with pulling on the leash and wanting to sniff everything. Now he knows when it's appropriate to sniff and when it's not!

Baxter still has plenty of his puppy energy but that doesn't mean training is impossible! When training any animal it's important to meet them where they are, and for some that may mean very short bursts of training with lots of play or sniffing in between!

Every dog is an individual and they deserve to be treated as such 🐾

New client Bertie working on her impulse control with the help of her feline sibling. Impulse control is about helping your dog think before they act.
Whether they need help ignoring the cat, waiting at the door, or resisting the urge to jump up or grab food, learning to pause and make better choices leads to a calmer, safer, and more enjoyable life for everyone involved!
Impulse control helps build confidence, improve communication, and it can even reduce stress for both dogs and their humans.
