Meet Betty, our latest grad! 🐾 This smart puppy aced her training and is officially a “Polite Dog.” Your future looks bright, Betty!

After completing her one-on-one training, Betty is ready for coaching sessions with her family and the trainer where we’ll work on trading habits like chewing on wood trim around the house and counter-surfing for better alternatives like teething using her own toys, perfecting her “stay” and other focused, polite behaviors.

A note about In-home training
When facing behavioral challenges at home, there’s truly no substitute for training in your own environment. You just can’t recreate the “temptation” of your own kitchen counters or living room distractions in a classroom. In-home training allows you to tackle the habits where they happen!

School’s in session and Rocky is ready to roll!
Rocky recently found his forever home through our rescue partners at Daisy’s Legacy, and now he’s officially starting his next big chapter: Day School!

To help him get off on the right paw, Rocky’s parents chose dedicated daily training to build a strong foundation. This kind of consistent, one-on-one work with a professional trainer is a great way to ensure new lessons really stick and is a total game-changer for a dog settling into a new environment.

We love giving rescue dogs the tools they need to thrive in their forever homes. Let’s do this, Rocky!

Say hello to Ginger (who is indeed a ginger🧡)

This newly adopted puppy has been taking private lessons with us at The Polite Dog, and she’s off to a great start. We’ve been focusing on house training, building strong puppy basics, and helping her learn to come when called — all the foundations that set her up for success.

Ginger also has an 11-year-old dog sibling at home, so we’re teaching her how to give space and make good choices around her older companion (who would much rather relax than referee puppy energy!).

It’s been fun helping Ginger and her family build routines, communication, and polite manners together 🐾

Day School Spotlight

Rico, a mini bernedoodle, came to us feeling skittish, unsure, and a little overwhelmed by the world—especially around new people, visitors at home, and dogs on leash. He would bark and nip to make space in everyday situations.

During day school, we’ve been working on building confidence, reducing reactivity, and helping Rico feel comfortable enough in busy environments to let down his guard.

✨ Progress so far:
• Much less barking at visitors in the home
• Walking past people and dogs without reacting
• Growing confidence at the park—now he can relax, play, and actually have fun

Watching him go from anxious and unsure to engaged, playful, and more at ease has been incredible 💛. We’re so proud of how far he’s come and excited to continue watching him blossom as day school continues.

Introducing Sully! At 12 weeks old, this puppy is keeping his family on their toes. Like many young dogs, he’s still learning where the bathroom is and isn’t — so we’re focusing on crate training, house training, and building strong puppy basics early.

Sully shares his home with his new older brother, Tucker, a 14-year-old poodle mix. Sully is very eager to initiate play with Tucker, who as a senior dog, is less eager. Part of our training includes helping Sully learn how to settle, understand Tucker’s space, and develop calm behavior inside his home.

He’s a sweet, smart puppy who’s well on his way to becoming a very polite boy! And like another well known Sully, we wanted to give him a tagline. How’s “Our miracle on the sofa cushions?”

She’s très magnifique — and that just so happens to be her name. Magnifique is a Papillon from Belgium. 🇧🇪✨

During our lessons together we’re working on crate training, recall, and leash manners, with a special focus on coming when called. She’s bright, energetic, and while a little shy with new people her confidence grows with every session. We can’t wait to see her continue to shine!

She’s small but mighty 💪! This Wednesday we had our first private lesson with Rosie, a Havanese puppy. She’s 12 weeks old, weighs just 4 pounds, and is learning her puppy basics. It’s safe to say she’s already off to a great start.
