Thought I’d jump the gun on the sappy end of year post since all of the World Oddities Expo shows are finished for this year.. This time last year I was laid off completely unexpectedly from what I thought was going to be my lifelong career. Right before the holidays was such a hard time to navigate.. thankfully I had started making taxidermy as a side hobby the year before and had attended just a couple WOE events to vend so I decided to take a break from working and focus on taxidermy til the new year. I had been recruited by another company doing the same thing (Asphalt Mix-Designer/Lab Technician) I tried it out for a few months but it just wasn’t a good fit.. We had signed up for more WOE shows and after vending a few at the beginning of this year I made the leap to quit my job and focus on taxidermy full time, also my original company did call me back and they had dramatically cut back on work so there wasn’t a place for me to return.. Shortly after that I was asked to step up and teach taxidermy classes for WOE! I have successfully taught in 18 cities this year! We have vended 10 WOE, 6 other events, and still have 2 more events for this year! In late July we were able to bring TJ on full time for the business as well! This year has been a wild ride and a lot of navigating but I’m so grateful for the opportunities and experiences! I have very high hopes for next year! I will be teaching in 27 cities and I think we’re vending for WOE in like 17 cities?? We’re thinking about a few other events in between but so so excited for it all! Thankful for all the new friends and all of the support 🥺❤️✨
