Windridge October horse trials was a strong outing for Thompson Equestrian. Catherine won the novice, Elena took 2nd in the Training, Jess won the beginner novice with Meredith hot on her heels in 3rd, and Raina got 2nd place in the starter. The hard work is paying off!

Over Labor Day weekend I was blessed to have many lessons with Barend Heilbron. My brain and my heart are still full! Full on dressage nerd- loving the progress I’m feeling with all my horses 🤓These clips are of Merlot schooling canter pirouettes.

Thompson equestrian had a fantastic outing at windridge horse trials! Catherine and naia were neck and neck after dressage getting a 19.4 and 19.7! Catherine clinched the win though which was her and Saul’s happy return to competition after an injury had them temporarily sidelined. Georgia and Camille finished in 2nd and 4th in that same BN division. Naia and jemma both moved up a level this weekend and proved they were ready for the challenge! Congrats also to Kaiya and Blitz on their first horse trial ever together! Can’t wait to continue to watch you partnership grow. Elena and Diego cruised around effortlessly- gaining further experience for Diego at the novice level. And lastly, I had the pleasure of riding Alex Mottershead’s horse Bentley around the bn for a second place finish. He has been a joy to train this summer while his mom was off studying hard in CO

Time to celebrate this week's Winner's Circle Wednesday pair, Catherine Goosmann and Saul Good! Catherine and her 12-year-old Thoroughbred gelding recently won their Beginner Novice division at the WindRidge Farm Summer H.T. on their impressive dressage score of 19.4 👏

Catherine shared, "Saul is really an amazing guy. I've had the honor of owning him for about a year and a half now. We've never gotten a dressage score even close to a 19.4 before, but he loves to jump and we usually do well in the cross country and show jumping phases. This was our first horse trial since last November. After he suffered an injury this past winter, we were only able to do flat work and dressage for several months and didn't get to compete in the spring season. Our incredible trainer, Allison Thompson at Thompson Equestrian in Fairview, NC, always says that every horse can benefit from dressage. So while he was unable to jump, we just focused on that and it really paid off last weekend!"

Rio was a superstar today: tolerating an early morning bath, getting braided then getting to strut his stuff around in front of the judges. His trot was his “highlight”. Thanks Lollybrook farm for hosting!

Vittorio is ready to strut his stuff at the Hanoverian inspection tomorrow! For any Rio fans or anyone interested in learning more about judging young horse conformation come on down the Lollybrook Farms tomorrow and hang out with us! First inspection begins at 9 am. Rio is the last one of the day to go at 12:55.
