Mending Hope Equine Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit in Fairmount City, Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming mustangs and domestic horses. We rely on the support of the community to continue to rescue and care for equines. Intake fees can be high and vary depending on the horse. The majority of the equine that we take in are older and not broke, untouched or ill. We
typically do not buy from kill pens or kill buyers; this only fuels the industry. We believe in going to the auctions, taking in the unwanted or in need before they end up in the slaughter pipeline. We do, however, accept equines that have been bailed with no place to go. We also offer a Horses and Heroes program for Veterans through a partnership with Patriot Horsemanship and Wendy Dixon, certified animal assisted therapy professional. We try to educate on equine abuse and mustangs and host equine first aid classes as well. Founder Tammy has a mental health background and is a Family Nurse Practitioner and also uses the horses for pet therapy. We appreciate volunteers. If you’d like to get involved, there are many ways to volunteer including working directly with the horses, cleaning equipment, hosting fundraisers, grounds work, professional services, and more. We also offer community service hours. We are solely funded by donations. In addition to monetary donations, we also accept items for the rescues, high-quality horse hay, grain, equipment, tack, and other items or services that can be auctioned off at our fundraisers.
