I asked my dogs who wanted their nails trimmed and this happened! They all jumped up on the table and waited their turn to hold out their paws and get a trim and a treat. I wish all my client dogs were so good about this. 
The trick is consistency, early training, yummy treats, and most of all NEVER CUT THE NAiLS TOO SHORT. I trim the end where I can easily be sure it won’t get too short, and then Dremmel them down a little more.
