We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new initiative that’s about to make a big impact on our shelter dogs — the Shelter to Scholar Training Program, made possible by our incredible friends at The Better Companion!
This innovative program is designed not only to support our dogs on their journey to forever homes, but also to empower our staff and volunteers with the tools and training needed to continue guiding them every step of the way.

So, what does this mean?
Training can now begin in the shelter — a true game changer for many of the dogs in our care. By providing structure, enrichment, and confidence-building from the start, we’re giving our pups the best possible shot at success in their adoptive homes.

Here’s what you can expect:
Quarterly on-site training classes led by a skilled trainer from The Better Companion, specially tailored for shelter dogs.
Scholarship opportunities for dogs needing a little extra support — these pups can attend off-site courses. Even better? If they’re adopted during the course, the scholarship follows them home!
Exclusive perks for adopters — every adopted dog will go home with a discount coupon for training with The Better Companion to continue their learning in their new environment.
We’re still fine-tuning a few details, but we’re beyond excited to get the ball rolling. This program has the potential to transform lives — not just for our dogs, but for the families who welcome them home.

We had a wonderful time meeting pups and pup parents at the Sirius Sled Dogs Rescue silent auction fundraiser today in We did hands on demos for in-home grooming and coat maintenance between professional grooms + had our guest Levi Fellows, certified pet nutritionist, guide pet parents on proper diet for healthy skin and coat. Pretty Pawz Grooming pet stylists will be doing hands-on demos showing you proper tools and techniques at the Sirius Sled Dogs Rescue silent auction fundraiser for their Spay & Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) offering half cost spay/neuter surgeries in partnership with Ballaine Vet. Bring your pup and ask all your at-home coat maintenance questions. Our pro stylists will be showing you techniques and tools. Plus certified pet nutritionist Levi Fellows will be talking about proper nutrition for healthy coat & skin. We are also donating Pretty Pawz Self Wash gift certificates to the silent auction.
