The very handsome Winston finished up his Day & Train program today. What a beautiful turnaround for this Golden Retriever and his family. From barking at excessively at his owners and other dogs, jumping rudely on people, refusing to jump in the vehicle or go into the crate and having very little impulse control to a happy and calmer puppy his owners are now excited to walk out in public again.

Winston put in the work each day but his owners were excellent students who were open to learning how to better read his needs and provide appropriate outlets for all that puppy energy. Thoughts of rehoming this guy are now off the table 🤗👏.

Puppies certainly can be a handful but you don’t have to suffer through it or go through it alone.

Feebee and her mom started private lessons yesterday. Feebee is 10 years old and was adopted about 2 months ago. While mom feels she is an absolute gem, there are some behaviors and manners she’d like her to stop and improve on. That ear 😍

I love getting updates from clients and here is a wonderful one from Joy’s mom. Joy recently completed her Day & Train program at the beach to gain on and off leash skills. They are now back in the mountains where the e-collar is helping Joy enjoy her freedom.

Joy & I went to downtown Blowing Rock. She walked by me, went into the ice cream store greeting everyone, sat by my feet while I ate then we walked home by a busy street. She was perfect!

Happy to meet Sadie and her mom this morning. They had a recent loss and are finding their new normal together.

We are working on a plan to help Sadie lessen her behaviors when her mom needs to leave her home alone. Codependency has arrived but doesn’t have to be permanent. I’m hopeful change will come soon as mom is committed to doing what’s best and healthiest for Sadie to be happy!

I had a lesson with Winston’s parents on threshold manners at home. He also gets to practice waiting until released when riding in the vehicle and arriving at parks.

I got to spend the day with this little cutie too. Bronx and his family have been keeping up with his new training skills, and he’s doing great! He loved his nature walks and play time and was even complimented by a stranger on how well behaved he was during our conversation at the park. 💕🐶💕

I welcomed in this handsome Golden Retriever this week. Winston started his Day & Train program yesterday to gain a good foundation of obedience and to work on eliminating some not-so-good behaviors that make public outings quite a chore for his parents.

It's time to start making your plans for next weekend! Join us at our 8th annual BandFest on Sunday, June 1, from noon to 5. We'll be rockin' the Sunset Beach Town Park with music from the Sea and Sand Band and Julio and the Saltines, with food trucks and vendors, a beer garden, raffles, and most importantly, local rescue groups with adoptable dogs and cats! Come out and support our local animal welfare programs!

The oh-so-sweet Joy finished her Day & Train program today. Mom and Dad are so proud of what she has accomplished over the past couple of weeks. Our main goal was for her to achieve off leash reliability which she did. Now she’ll be enjoying more freedom whether she is hitting mountain trails or a stroll on the beach with her people! 🐶
