Dogs often sneeze during play to signal friendliness and prevent roughhousing from escalating. These calming signals help communicate that their actions are playful and not aggressive, keeping interactions safe and fun for both dogs and humans.

Still thinking about that hike?? Here are some vet-approved hiking tips for a safe day out:
🐕🦺Leash up: All trails in Snohomish County require dogs to stay on leash to protect wildlife and other hikers.
💧Hydrate: Bring plenty of water for both you and your pup; water sources can be limited.
🥾Prep paws: Rocks, roots, or hot pavement can injure paws; consider paw wax or booties where needed.
🩹Pack essentials: P**P bags, treats, towel, and basic first aid are must-haves.
🦟Stay up to date: Ensure flea/tick/parasite prevention and vaccinations are current before hitting the trails.
💩Respect trail etiquette: Clean up after your dog and give wildlife space.

Tomorrow, 7/15 is Feline Leukemia Day. Let’s learn more about this serious and often misunderstood disease affecting our beloved cats. FeLV is a contagious virus that weakens a cat's immune system, making them more susceptible to infections and other illnesses.
What You Need to Know-
Transmission: FeLV spreads through close contact between cats, including grooming, sharing food or water bowls, and bite wounds.
Symptoms: Common signs include lethargy, weight loss, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and recurring infections. Some cats may not show symptoms immediately but can still spread the virus.
Prevention:
Vaccination: Ensure your cat is vaccinated against FeLV, especially if they go outdoors or live in multi-cat households.
Testing: Regularly test your cat for FeLV, particularly if they are exposed to other cats.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our feline companions. Let’s work towards a future where every cat can live a happy, healthy life free from Feline Leukemia.

🎆🐾 Keep Your Pets Safe This 4th of July! 🐾🎆
While we’re celebrating with fireworks and BBQs, our furry friends may be feeling scared or stressed. Here are some tips to keep your pet safe and calm this Independence Day:
🔹 Exercise early – Get your pet’s energy out before the festivities begin.
🔹 Keep them indoors – Fireworks can frighten pets and cause them to bolt.
🔹 Create a safe space – A quiet, cozy area with familiar items helps them feel secure.
🔹 No BBQ scraps – Many foods can be dangerous or toxic to pets.
🔹 Talk to your vet – Ask about anxiety meds or calming options now, before the big night.
🔹 ID tags & microchips – Make sure your pet’s info is current, just in case they get spooked and run.
Let’s make this a holiday that’s fun and safe for everyone—humans and pets alike! ❤️🐶🐱
