We just looooove our National Day Calendar😆 So today we're posting about National Pet Day! According to their website, "National Pet Day on April 11th dedicates the day to those pets who may not always get the companionship and attention pets deserve. While loving our pets is something we do every day, the observance encourages helping out orphaned pet companions. It will improve their health and enhance their opportunities for adoption."

National Pet Day is an excellent time to do a few checks for your pets:
❣️Go through your furever family member's toys. Throw away any items that are no longer safe.
❣️Maintain your pet-friendly home. Keep cords and toxins secure from your four-legged friends. This includes phone chargers.
❣️Verify when vaccinations are due and schedule an appointment to update if they are due - 425-742-4444, opt4.
❣️Check collars to ensure tags are secure and numbers are current. We sometimes forget to update this information when we move or change numbers.

How to observe National Pet Day:
💟Take supplies to those pets in shelters/rescues.
💟Help a friend with pets who is recovering from an illness.
💟Adopt a pet - only if you have the means and time 😉
💟Give your pets extra love with a long walk, a bath and a good scrub down.

Here are some PPVC staff pets. WE WANT TO SEE YOUR PETS TOO! 📸

🐾 Transformation Tuesday🐾

After a tough journey, this adorable pup has a new lease on life! 😍 We're not groomers, but when medical needs arise, we step in to help. This doggo was severely matted when adopted, but with gentle care and under anesthesia, we were able to give her the freedom to move comfortably again.

😊🐶 Seeing her happy and able to move freely brings us so much joy. No judgment here, just love and support for pets in need. Let's continue spreading love and compassion, one wagging tail at a time! ❤️🐾

April is National Heartworm Awareness Month

So what is heartworm disease you ask?
"Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets in the United States and many other parts of the world. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs in the body.

Heartworm disease affects dogs, cats and ferrets, but heartworms also live in other mammal species, including wolves, coyotes, foxes, sea lions and—in rare instances—humans. Because wild species such as foxes and coyotes live in proximity to many urban areas, they are considered important carriers of the disease." -American Heartworm Society

Environmental Allergies vs. Flea Allergic -

It can be difficult to differentiate between seasonal allergies and flea allergic dermatitis. Here are some symptoms to watch out for:
🌿 Spring Allergies: Keep an eye out for symptoms like itching, sneezing, watery eyes, and skin irritation. Pets may also exhibit behaviors such as excessive scratching, licking, or chewing on their paws or skin. If you notice these signs, call us to schedule an appointment.
🚫 Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD): Flea allergy symptoms can be similar to those of spring allergies but may also include severe itching, redness, and inflammation, particularly around the base of the tail and along the back. Flea dirt (tiny black specks) may be visible on your pet's skin or fur. Prevention is key, so ensure your pet is on a regular prescription (vet recommended) flea prevention regimen.

If you are noticing any of these symptoms and you have questions or would like to schedule and appointment, call us at 425-742-4444, Opt4.

🐈‍⬛❣️ RESPECT YOUR CAT DAY is today! Here are some ways you can give your kitty a little extra love, respect and compassion not only today, but any day😽 :

1. Respect their sleep schedule - cats sleep most of the day (up to 18hrs!) and tend to be active in the early morning, evening and late at night. Respect their naptime, or better yet, take a nap with them!

2. Learn their bodyspace - learn how and where your cat likes to be pet as they can be very particular. Cats use physical touch as a form of communication so show them that you respect and love them! Popular places are the neck/chin, between/behind the ears, back and sides, but you can move slow and let them lead the way.

3. Follow their lead - unlike dogs who want attention 100% of the time, cats want love and attention only on their own terms, follow their cues and don't push their boundaries.

4. Release the beast - no not literally; but encourage your cat's natural hunter instincts with toys and lasers to promote stalking, pouncing, and chasing moving objects.

5. Make their health your priority - no better way to show you love and respect your animals than caring for their healthcare needs. Schedule a check-up with us: [email protected] or 425-742-4444, opt 4.

Feb 22nd World Spay Day- It’s World Spay Day!
A research project conducted at the University of Georgia, analyzing the medical records of over 70,000 animal patients, revealed that spayed female dogs experienced a 26.3% increase in life expectancy compared to intact dogs. Spaying pets decreases their likelihood of roaming, lowers the risk of cancers and fatal uterine infections, contributing to the overall well-being and prolonged happiness of your pets.

If you have questions about getting your pet spayed, please email us: [email protected] or give us a call: 425-742-4444, Opt 4

🦷🪥😁February Pet Dental Health Month!

Everyone knows that routine dental visits are important for the health of our teeth, but did you know that it is just as important for your pet? Dental disease results from the buildup of bacteria, plaque, and tartar on teeth and beneath the gum line, often times causing pain. If left untreated, it can lead to systemic health issues as bacteria enter the bloodstream and affect vital organs. Good news though - we can help!

Reach out to schedule your pet's dental exam and/or prophylaxis. We offer 10% off of the dental cleaning for the month of February, but please act fast as space is limited and filling up quickly (offer will not be extended into March due to unavailability).
